Trucks Asked To Move From Hudson & King…Again

2012-05-23 12.45.17

It was almost exactly a year ago that food trucks started to get hassled on the blocks in the area of Hudson and King streets, and yesterday morning Twitter exploded with some trucks saying they had been asked to leave that area by the police. When I made it up there in between rain showers I saw Frites N Meats parked on King and a fro-yo truck parked on Hudson. Red Hook Lobster Pound Truck had been the one sounding the alarm in the morning, saying they’d been asked to leave the area. Check out what they had to say after the jump.

Heading Underground For Greek Food At Suspenders

If you’ve never been to Suspenders on Broadway (at Thames), or didn’t even know it existed, it’s because you have to walk down some stairs from street level, past a Subway sandwich shop and notice it before you get to an actual subway entrance. The bar and restaurant has no windows, but what it does have is a giant screen showing sports and Greek and Mediterranean food for less than $10.

PROFILE: Downtown Lunch’er “Cia”

As is customary here on Midtown Lunch, every Tuesday we’ll profile a different lunch’er and get their recommendations for places to eat in Downtown NYC. This week, we have Cia who hadn’t ventured past Broadway or below Fulton for her lunches, and needs you help finding a spot to make her do it.

Lemongrass Grill Comes Back To Life As Lemon Leaves

It looks like Lemongrass Grill, the Thai place on William St. that closed after getting the Department of Health yellow sticker treatment back in November, has been reincarnated on Nassau St. This version’s called Lemon Leaves and is run by the chef from Lemongrass in the space that held (still holds?) Koodo Sushi. The Koodo signs are still up, but a search on Seamless shows a menu of  Lemon Leaves’ Thai items, and everything is $10 or less. I’m not going to get excited about a new, affordable Thai option because I’ve been burned by getting my hopes up in the past.

Resist The Urge To Eat At That Generic Deli In Your Building Today: It's not a big surprise that a lot of trucks are off the road today due to this rain (not cool, weather!). What we do have on the ML Downtown Twitter Tracker are Frites N Meats at Church & Walker, Red Hook Lobster, Gorilla Cheese, Taim and Mexicue at the WFC lot, Sweetery and Crisp at Hudson & King, Chinese Mirch is at Front & Gouverneur, Comme Ci Comme Ca's at Old Slip & Water and Our Heros is at Wall & Water with a buffalo chicken hero.
