If You Like Goat Cheese and Lamb, Try Pizza by Certe’s March Special

Last week, Rachel announced the March specials at Certe and Pizza by Certe. This month’s pizza comes topped with spicy lamb meatballs, fava beans, goat cheese and sautéed minted cherry tomatoes. Certe, you had me at spicy lamb meatballs…but clinched it with goat cheese. Everything seems great on paper, but did the execution stack up?

Cer Te To Serve Up A Duo Of Lamb In March

Looks like March will go out like a lamb at Certe (on 55th btw. 5+6th) which is introducing its March sandwich tomorrow, featuring “pulled” roasted leg of lamb with mint marmalade, smoked paprika aioli, and fried asparagus ribbons on a spicy garlic baguette.  Not to be outdone, Pizza By Certe (on 56th btw. Park+Lex) will also be starting a lamb special of their own. It’s a pizza topped w/ spicy lamb meatballs, fava beans, goat cheese and sautéed minted cherry tomatoes.  Both specials start tomorrow, and will be available for the entire month of March.

Pizza By Certe Has Homemade Lobster Tails (The Sweet and Flaky Kind!)

Pizza by Cer Te

We’ve covered a lot of Pizza by Certe‘s (56th btw Park+Lex) menu, but mostly the savory. We don’t often look at the sweets in their dessert case, even though I will admit to looking twice at the offerings in there. A couple of weeks ago, we found out that they began serving up increasingly rare, homemade flaky lobster tails, and I stopped by to see if they perfectly break on the joint and are filled with delicious cream. They didn’t disappoint!

Gobbling Pizza by Cer Te’s Thanksgiving Pie

Last week, Rachel announced the launch of Pizza by Certe’s Thanksgiving Pizza special featuring turkey meatballs, mashed potatoes with giblet gravy, butternut squash, and cranberries ($3.95 + tax). To be honest I was a little skeptical, but I headed over to check it out anyway, and I have to say I was pleasantly surprised.

Thanksgiving Pizza Arrives at Pizza By Cer Te

Pizza by Cer Te has started offering Thanksgiving pizza this week, according to their twitter. Topped with turkey meatballs, mashed potatoes, cranberries, gravy and mozzarella, the slice sounds like the most delicious gut bomb ever! A call to the store told us the special is supposed to last through next week, and the slice will run you $3.95.  If it’s anything like October’s special Tony Manero slice that Blondie liked so much, we’ll be stoked to try it. Has anybody tried this yet?  If you have, let us know what you think in the comments!

Learn to Make Pizza by Cer té: Ever wanted to try making pizza at home?  Why not start with the pizza from Pizza by Cer Te (on 56th btw. Park+Lex).  The good folks over at Serious Eats posted a recipe the other day detailing how to make Pizza by Cer té's seriously good looking cauliflower "Merguez" pizza. Or you could always just buy a slice in person (we prefer the latter).

Fried Spaghetti Balls at Pizza by Cer Te

Pizza by Cer Te

My last visit to Pizza by Certe (56th btw Park+Lex) not only yielded a slice of Tony Manero, but also something I had been seeking out ever since it popped up in the forums over the summer, fried spaghetti balls. Fried spaghetti balls are not frequent, but not regular, menu item meaning you might not get to score one every time you visit. I learned this the hard way having stopped by Pizza by Certe a few times looking for them. For those of you who did get to try the spaghetti sandwich from M. Wells and loved it, these should definitely be on your to-eat list!

The Tony Manero

Did you know that October was National Pizza Month? I didn’t. Not until I found out the Pizza by Cer Te (56th btw Park+Lex) was celebrating this underrated holiday by serving up a special pie all month long, The Tony Manero. That would be John Travolta’s character in Saturday Night Fever for you young’ins. This pie is special in a truly unique way: it’s a double-stack. Two margherita pies sandwiched together basically means you’re getting two of Cer Te’s crazy good pizza slices for $4. But does it really stack up?
