New AQ Kafe Opening in Hell’s Kitchen: Good news for the poor souls that work in the outer reaches of Midtown West (we're looking at you New York Daily News...)  AQ Kafe is opening a new location on 10th Ave. btw. 36+37th.

Only About 100 GA Tix Left for the Vendy Awards: Since the finalists were announced tix for the Vendy Awards, tickets have been selling pretty quickly.  Table service is waitlist only, and we're hearing that there are just around 100 regular $85 tix left. In other words, if you wait for them to announce the rookie and dessert finalists, you might be SOL. Just a friendly public service announcement...

Kim’s Aunt Is Still a Mystery: The much loved Kim's Aunt Kitchen Cart got the Serious Eats treatment yesterday, and the writer still couldn't figure out who exactly Kim's Aunt is. There's nothing they tried that we haven't covered before (fish sandwich is cheap and amazing, bulgogi/fried shrimp platter is huge), and it says the cart opened only two years ago (it's been open way longer than that) but their photos, as always, are pretty!

New L.A. Schnitel Truck Rips Off Street Sweets?: Did you see this over on Midtown Lunch: Los Angeles?  A new truck just hit the streets in L.A. serving schnitzel.  Sound familiar?  Of course it does... but the truck *looks* really familiar too. Check it out>>

Kelvin Slush Testing Out Midtown: Perfect day for this- the Kelvin Slush Truck (the slurpees for hipsters truck that launched last month) is parked in Midtown today for the first time.  They're on 47th and Lex, and will give you a free mix in if you say "Welcome to Midtown".  Check their twitter account before heading out, just to be safe.  (First parking attempts in Midtown never seem to go very well...)

4Food Guinea Pigs; Free Soft Serve: Can't wait for the special sneak peak of 4Food we're giving away?  They're looking for a couple of volunteers to be guinea pigs today via Twitter.  Also on the ML Twitter Tracker... Steak Truck is on 47th, Quick Stop Kosher is on 33rd, Eddie's Pizza is on 48th, Rickshaw is on 57th, Street Sweets is on 46th 52nd, and Billy Gunnz is on 42nd with free soft serve (from 12- 1:45pm)

Speaking of the Vendys: Last year we made a huge deal about the judges (I wonder why?), this year not so much. The entire list is posted on the Vendy Award website, and includes Restauranteur Stephen Starr, Epicurious Editor Tanya Wegman-Steele, and Chef Aaron Sanchez. PLUS there is a citizen judge again this year, and it just so happens she's a Downtown lunch'er.
