September Means New Custard Flavors at Shake Shack: Not sure how it's already September (!) but a new month means a new line up of custard flavors at the Shake Shack (on 8th Ave. and 44th) including Cinnamon Spice & Everything Nice, Red Velvet, Buttered Rum Raisin, PB&J, Grasshopper, Figs & Honey and today's flavor: Coffee & Donuts (yes, real doughnut pieces are involved!).

Free Krispy Chicken Alert: We can't see choosing chicken over steak (or ordering a salad for that matter) but September is National Chicken Month (who knew?!) and to celebrate Tri Tip Grill will give you complimentary grilled or krispy chicken on top of any salad (just say "National Chicken Month" at the register.)  I suppose "free krispy chicken" does have a nice ring to it...

Free Smoothie Alert: Just got word that 4Food (on Mad+40th) is open this morning and giving away a free smoothie with the purchase of every breakfast sandwich up until 11am.  We're not normally ones to go for smoothies, but their dirt smoothie did get high marks from a few of Midtown Lunch'ers who scored the preview last week. (And it's free.)

50% off Atomic Wings: We've never officially written about the out of bounds location of Atomic Wings (on 9th Ave. btw. 39+40th), but they get mentioned a lot in the comments and forums (and there was that time they almost went to war with 2 Bros. Final Days of the Rock Center Farmer’s Market: Where has the summer gone? This week marks the last of the Rock Center Farmer's market for the season. You have today, tomorrow and Friday to get your fill of Amish country baked goods (hello, whoopie pies!) and fresh fruit, veggies, and bread on the North Plaza at 50th Street.

Mexicue and Rickshaw Forced to Leave 40th: Sad news for people who work near 40th and 6th... apparently the cops kicked Rickshaw Dumplings and Mexicue out of their spots a little while ago, ruining lunch for this guy. (News like this is becoming all too familiar these days...) Mexicue has moved to 23rd and Park for the rest of the day, Rickshaw hasn't checked in yet.
