Uzbeki Bread and Meat from Suzani Art Cafe

I am always on the hunt for new Russian and Eastern European restaurants in Northeast Philly. Though you might not guess it from the name, Suzani Art Cafe serves Uzbeki food. Inside,  it is quite cozy with ample pillows provided in the booths. You can chew meat off the bone while snuggling and drinking whatever booze pairing you decided to bring. Another Corner Indonesian Steam Table at Ramayana

What is it the draws me to the little Indonesian food spots around town? Probably the bold flavors and cheap prices. Here is harder question: why are all Indonesian restaurants located on corners? Sky Cafe- corner. Hardena, Cafe Pendawa Lima, Lil Java, Indonesia Restaurant- all corners! Curious, right? Or do you just care what I ordered?

1st Ward Eclectic Sandwiches Don’t Have to Have a Theme

1st Ward opened this June at Front and Morris with a menu of about a dozen sandwiches and some sides. With a few seats inside, a few seats outside- it’s a welcoming, streamlined operation. I was pretty impressed at the diversity on the small sandwich menu and the fact that I probably could have been happy eating any of them.

Duck Poutine at Suppa

Suppa in Norther Liberties focuses on indulgent, American food all day. With a “Chopped” win under their chef’s belt, you have to trust the menu, which includes a smoked and pressed duck sandwich, fried chicken, and even some vegetarian dishes.
