With most food carts around Suburban Station serving ye ol halal combo or breakfast sandwiches, it is easy to miss Caribbean Palm- a cart on 18th and Market serving Caribbean platters. The pictures of oxtail help separate it from the other chicken and rice platters carts.

Beef Sate Stew at Viet Huong

Whenever I think to stop at Pho and Cafe Viet Huong, its always to pick up some summer rolls and whatever fried snacks offered at the counter that day.  It took me about 5 years to actually eat a sit down meal here.

Baked Snacks from Someone’s Grandpa’s House

You could easily walk by Vallari Brothers in South Philly and not notice it, the corner building is pretty run down and there is one small sign indicating there is anything being sold at all there. That is usually an indicator of a product that speaks for itself. Inside, there were bags of bread and rolls strewn around and not much for decor. We waited for an older gentleman to realize we had entered and asked him about the tomato pie advertised casually in the window.

Do you ever have a long ass day where you just want to treat yourself with sushi? I do and I did. I saw the Vampire Bowl, described as “tuna in fried avocado” on the sushi appetizer menu at I-Sushi and I hoped a fried avocado lovingly filled with tuna would perk me up.
