Half Off At Carl’s Steaks: Before there was a truck selling cheese steaks, there was Carl's Steaks on Chambers St. (btw. Broadway & Church). There's a deal today for $14 worth of food for $7, which is a lot of cheese and steak.

San Luis Tacos Is Back!: We have Frites N Meats at Hanover Sq., Eddie's Pizza at Hudson & King, Bongo Brothers at Varick & Charlton, Milk Truck's at Wall & William, Our Heros has crispy flounder at Wall & Water, Mike N Willie's is at Front & Wall, Domo Taco's at Water & Coenties Slip and Go Burger's at Varick & Vandam. A lunch'er also brings word that San Luis Taco Truck is back at Front & Pine with a revamped menu. And the WFC lot has Big D's Grub, Schnitzel & Things, Mexicue, Treats Truck and Rickshaw Dumplings.

Bongo Brothers Has A Special Sandwich: Today's ML Downtown Twitter Tracker says that there's a medianoche special at Bongo Brothers on Old Slip, Frying Dutchmen's at Varick & King, Mexicue's at Water & Broad, Kimchi Taco's at Hudson & Charlton, Frites N Meats is at Church & Lispenard, Wafels & Dinges is at Water & Maiden Ln., Our Heros has arroz con pollo at Water & Wall, Real Good Truck's at Varick & Vandam and Phil's Steaks is at Water & John. Palenque Colombian, Red Hook Lobster, Milk Truck, Taim Mobile and Eddie's Pizza are at the WFC lot.

Hoomoos Asli’s Schnitzel Sandwich Gets A Boost From Some Fries

Across the street from perpetually mobbed La Esquina you’ll find Hoomoos Asli on Kenmare St. (at Cleveland Pl.) which is the area’s answer to Crisp (that is until Taim opens its new flagship shop in Nolita) or a go-to falafel cart. The restaurant serves Israeli takes on pita sandwiches and platters and although the falafel and other vegetarian sandwiches are the cheapest options on the menu that’s often over $10, I zoned in on the chicken schnitzel sandwich and decided to make an fried addition for an extra $1.

Checking Out A Burro Borracho Torta After They Shed Their Shorties Deli Clothes

Up until a couple of months ago, there was a place called Shorties Deli Cafe on Church St. (btw. Leonard & Franklin) that was a taqueria masquerading as a generic deli selling the usual bagels and sandwiches. Those in the know went there for the burritos or tacos, but if you were simply walking by it wasn’t blatantly obvious that Mexican food was available within. Thankfully, whoever owns the place figured out they were doing a disservice to the delicious food served inside and changed the name to Burro Borracho Taqueria. Now when you walk in, there is no pretense that this is anything but a place selling Mexican food.
