Eddie’s Pizza Truck’s Return To FiDi A Great Excuse To Eat A Bar Pie

It’s not often you see a food truck with a calorie count listed on its menu, as I discovered Eddie’s Pizza Truck does when I finally got to eat one of its bar pies earlier in the week. (Really, no one wants to know how much those Korean tacos or kati rolls are adding to your waistline). Eddie’s clocks its cheese bar pie at 270 calories and that only encouraged me to add sausage to it. The truck returned to the Financial District after debuting downtown a year ago and then abandoning the weekly parking spot in favor of more busy pastures. The truck makes a stop every Friday on Hudson St. in SoHo, which is a hike to get to for me, so I stopped by to check out the $10 bar pie lunch special while it was within walking distance.

Bon Chon On John Opening Korean Taco And Sandwich Shop

Good news for the upper part of the FiDi that has a far walk for the weekly stops of Kimchi Taco Truck and Big D’s Grub. Lunch’er Justin sent in the above photo advertising the forthcoming Kortako on Nassau St. between John & Fulton. It’s being opened by the Bon Chon on John people and it appears they will sell both tacos and sandwiches. I’ll be curious what they offer for the latter, but really it’s just nice to have something that isn’t a chain opening downtown.

Going Vegetarian At Meat-Centric Pita Press Isn’t A Bad Decision

When you walk into Pita Press – the Greek rotisserie on Cedar St. (btw. William & Pearl), one of the first things you see is chunks of lamb and beef slowly turning behind glass doors. Next to that is a grill where chicken souvlaki skewers cook. To say that this place focuses on meats may be an understatement. Why then, would I go in and order the vegetarian option on the menu? Well, sometimes I get meat fatigue and the words “zucchini feta fritters” called to me.

Au Bon Pain Brings Us A Bastardized Lobster Roll

Have you ever wanted to try lobster salad stuffed into a croissant? Well, Au Bon Pain has started selling just that, bragging that you can get a quarter-pound of lobster meat (and mayo!) in its sandwich that runs a mere $12.99. Judging by the picture alone, I wouldn’t eat this thing, but what about all of you lunchers? Would you eat an attempt at a lobster roll from a chain bakery to save a few bucks over one from Luke’s Lobster or Urban Lobster Shack? Check out a picture of the sandwich after the jump.
