Gorilla Cheese Back In Soho With Falafel: After being off the road for a few days, Gorilla Cheese is back on Varick with a falafel sandwich also involving cheese. Also on the ML Downtown Twitter Tracker...Eddie's Pizza is on Hudson with eggplant ricotta pies and Korilla is on Front. Frying Dutchmen and Souvlaki GR give word that they won't be out today.

Free Turkey Burgers In FiDi: Bistro Truck will be on Old Slip today with free Jennie-O sponsored "Brooklyn-style" turkey burgers until 4 p.m. In non-free lunches on the ML Downtown Twitter Tracker, Mexicue is on Water, Frying Dutchmen is on Varick, Kimchi Taco Truck is on Hudson along with the Jalapeno Truck.

Beware The Spice In Desi Truck’s Combo Lunch Special

It’s not often that you come across a lunch that’s spicy across the board, but that’s what I found the other day when I finally had a chance to stop by the Desi Food Truck, aka the latest truck to decamp to the Financial District after being kicked out of midtown. They have a vegetarian and meat version of a “Desi lunch special” and since the combination of a kati roll and dal sounded delicious, that’s what I ordered.

Free Whoopie Pies On Twitter Tracker: There's a lot of truck action in Soho today, according to the ML Downtown Twitter Tracker. Sweetery is on Hudson with  free whoopie pies if you pay with a Visa card. Korilla BBQ is on Front, Frying Dutchmen is covering for Gorilla Cheese on Varick, and Wafels & Dinges has a cart on Greenwich in Tribeca and the truck on Hanover Sq. Red Hook Lobster is on Charlton, the Jalapeno Truck is on Hudson and La Cense is on Wall.

Tilapia With Rice And Beans Special At Sandra’s Cart Worth The Mid-Week Wait

Sometimes when I would walk by Sandra’s Food Spot cart on Nassau (btw. Liberty & Cedar) in the morning there would be a neon pink sign affixed to the front announcing a special of tilapia with rice and beans for $7. It wasn’t until a few failed attempts at snagging this special that I realized they only serve it on Wednesdays (much like the Friday pasteles special), and it’s best to go early if you want some. Bon Chon Adds New Menu Items

If Korean fried chicken doesn’t sound great in the sweltering temperatures, Bon Chon on John (btw. Cliff & Pearl) has added some new menu items. A signboard out front says they have a bulgogi noodle salad along with some new alcoholic drinks because nothing says “summertime lunch” like throwing back a mojito at a Korean restaurant.
