The Copper Barrel Breaks Out Mysterious Lunch Special

I spotted this sign outside The Copper Barrel on Murray St. (nr. Broadway). I have no idea what this lunch special is, and it’s not on their menu online, but it doesn’t really matter because there’s also nothing on there above $10. And they serve something called pork shanks in marsala sauce! Has anyone eaten here since it changed its name from KD Connelly’s or tried the lunch special?

Crisp Expects To Open For Breakfast Tomorrow

width=If you’ve ever wondered what it would be like to eat breakfast at a place that normally serves falafel, Thursday may be your lucky day. The new location of Crisp on Fulton St. (nr. William) is planning to open at 7 a.m. serving up an oatmeal bar and yogurt with various mix-ins (but no eggs or sandwiches). Breakfast is something new they’re trying at this location to see how demand is. And you can get all of their Zach-approved interpretations of falafel sandwiches and burgers come lunch time (full report coming tomorrow!).

Lunching At Jeremy’s Ale House: A Little Bit Fantastic And A Little Bit Gross

Usually when you pick a lunch spot it’s because they have something particularly delicious to check out or a pleasant eating environment. Or the food is dirt cheap. Jeremy’s Ale House on Front St. (btw. Peck Slip & Dover) has only a small fraction of those things, and really my co-lunch’er and I ended up there out of sheer curiousity of what kinds of people would be eating lunch here on a spring-like day. And what would the interior look like with sunlight shining in? The answer to those questions, plus a picture of the tasteful decor after the jump. Read more »

Big D’s Has Curry Puffs!: You may want to hit up Big D's Grub Truck early today on Hanover Square to procure some of the limited supply of curry puffs with chicken and potato. Also on the ML Downtown Twitter Tracker, you can get a maple sausage and gravy waffle from Wafels & Dinges in Hanover Sq., and they also have a cart on Greenwich. Frites N Meats is on Hudson, and Rickshaw is on both Greenwich in Tribeca and Wall St. in the FiDi. And Calexico is grilling up something called triple chili chicken at its Prince St. cart.

Tribeca Golden Krust Shutters

I think we all know there are better sources of Jamaican food downtown than the Golden Krust chain, but I was still sad to see the location on Church St. closed. There is still a branch on Nassau (btw. John & Fulton) if you need your patty fix. Or you could just go to one of the carts like Veronica’s Kitchen and probably get more food for less money.

Late Lunch Deal At Farinella: You may remember fancy pizza and sandwich shop Farinella from Daniel's review back when the place opened in 2009. If you haven't tried it yet and don't mind eating lunch after 2:30 p.m. you can get $20 worth of food for $10.

Korilla, Taim in Soho: It's a nice freezing cold start to the short work week, but you can go get some lentil soup from Taim Mobile on Hudson to make things slightly less frigid. Also on the ML Downtown Twitter Tracker...Korilla is parked on Vandam and LaCense is on Barclay.
