PROFILE: Midtown Lunch’er “Rebecca”

Every Tuesday I turn over the site to a different Midtown Lunch’er for his or her recommendations for the best lunch in Midtown. Today it’s our very first librarian!!! (So exciting) Meet Rebecca… a NYPL employee who is looking for a good fish taco.

Name: Rebecca

Age: 34

Occupation: Librarian

Where in Midtown do you Work?: New York Public Library, 42nd and Fifth Avenue.

Favorite Kind of Food: Dumplings, Fish soup, Pasta, Duck, Indian food,
Pizza

Least Favorite Kind of Food: Salad Bars, Mix-em-up Salad Places, Subs/Heroes, and
“Grill Stations”.

Favorite Place(s) to Eat Lunch in Midtown: Kati Roll on 39th btw. 5+6th (paneer roll and the chana masala roll); Szechuan Gourmet on 39th btw. 5+6th (pork dumplings, eggplant in garlic sauce, braised crispy tofu with pork), Kunjip on 32nd btw. B’way+5th (Soon Doo Boo Chigae)

“Go-To” Lunch Place You and Your Coworkers Eat at Too Often? Pret a Manger, ‘witchcaft

Place(s) you discovered thanks to Midtown Lunch? Biryani Cart (on 46th and 6th), Minar (on 46th btw. 6+7th), Trini Paki Boys Cart (on 43rd and 6th)

If you could work anywhere (just because of the lunch) where would it be and why? My colleagues at the Queens Public Library in Flushing must eat well every day, and I wouldn’t say no to lunch in Bologna, Italy.

Is there anything you’d like to ask the Midtown Lunch readers? Where are the best fish tacos in Midtown?

Man… if I worked at the NYPL I’d eat at Cafe Zaiya, Yagura, and Chiyoda (on 41st btw. Mad+5th) every single day! As for fish tacos… Baja Fresh? Got a recommendation for Rebecca? Put it in the comments… and as always, if you would like to be next week’s Profiled: Midtown Lunch’er (or know somebody you’d like to nominate), email zach@midtownlunch.com.
