Who Wants Lunch at NBC’s Fancy Food Cart? We’ve Got Tix For One Lucky Lunch’er

You still have a couple of more days to win a lunch from NBC’s food truck, which will visit undisclosed locations on Monday Feburary 8th with Chefs Daniel Boulud, Alain Ducasse, Michael White, and Paul Liebrandt in tow.  But there have been some complaints in the comments about the difficulty of the quiz… so we managed to snag a pair of passes for one lucky Midtown Lunch’er. The locations haven’t been released yet, but the passes will be for the lunchtime slot (Noon to 2pm).  And we’ll make it easy for you to boot.  Just post a comment below explaining why you should be the one who gets passes, and you’re entered to win.  A winner will be drawn at random tomorrow (Friday) at 3pm.  Limit one entry per person.  Good luck!

i should win because i really want to put this food in my mouth.

also, every time i plan around going to a truck for lunch, something ridiculous happens. i also spent way too long trying to answer the questions for this thing. and their email to me was so callous!

but mostly, i love food and wish i had more money to eat all of it.

  • i should win b/c i’m a cool cat

I should win because I love lunch but I work in PR and make no money so today I just ate leftover tomato sauce for lunch.

I should win because I am unintentionally poetic about my food. E.g. my actual Starbucks order:

    Iced nonfat venti
    latte with a vanilla
    and caramel shot

Totally did not realize it at that time, haha…

  • It did come, my food, in ten shades of gray,
Sans vert, sans rouge — a most monochromatic soiree.
Resigned to fast food and slices of Ray
(– the namesake’s originator STILL unknown to this day).
“T’was such, the state of Midtown,” I’d say
Bad Pizza, McNuggets, a per-half-pound buffet
Were all I considered to keep hunger at bay.

But “Hark!” said Google on my twelve inch display,
“Don’t submit to the chains, for your buds will decay!”
My browser was speaking! But how? By what way?
    Dismayed. Underpaid. Now sanity astray?
But obey I did its beckoning to stay —
And woke me it did to smell this bouquet.

The colors! The colors! Begone, shades of gray!
Bye BK! Bye Wendy’s! Bye Metro, Cafe.
Bye former go-to locales of corporate cliche!
Street meats, cheap eats — the posts all portray.
Wasteland turned Eden, new food for my tray!

I behest… no, request you me two passes convey
On chance I’d enjoy a sumptuous array
Of true celebrity chef fare, not Lagasse or Flay
Urgently, I plead, give no form of “Nay!”
My efforts at best should warrant “Okay!”
    (S’il vous plait?)

I should win because I have grudgingly decided to give Boulud another chance after hating his terrine sandwich at NBC’s Bon Appétit Supper Club and Café last September.

  • I will be a representative of midtown lunch, the working class guy (or girl) who looks forward to two things every day, in no particular order, going home and eating lunch. We’re not stuck in this food wasteland because we want to be. We’re stuck here because we don’t have enough money NOT to be. There’s a reason we can spend no more than $10 on lunch. Some of us have to spend more than that to do the other thing we so look forward to every day, getting home. I will take this cause to the celebrity chefs turned street vendors. I will remind them of the poor working souls who yearn to enjoy their succulent creations but just can’t afford to. I will help them understand that the real joy of meal creation is the enjoyment of the meal that’s been created. Once I am finished with them, they will remember that they aren’t doing this to be on the food network or invited to hollywood type events, but to bring their work to the populus and to let them eat. Thank you.

  • I miss Zach, but you guys are doing an awesome job taking over and making the transition seamless! I tried the test too but was DENIED (so harsh:P). I want to go to experience the food, the chefs, the fun! Thanks for the opportunity: )

  • I should win because I am a lowly intern who misses the taste of delicious food. Yesterday I had a bowl of Cup Noodles. It was cold.

    Please.

I should win because while I should be saving money and making meals for lunch, I go out EVERY day and try different things for lunch per mtl’s suggestions! :P

I should win because I know way too much about food carts and have been reading this site from the beginning but no longer work in midtown and therefore miss out on all the delicious food cart eatin’.

Food is best when eaten free.

I should win because I got laid off in November and have had to severely cut back on eating out. It has been quite painful to miss out on old favorites and on trying new tasty places! Interviews have been slow to come and a free lunch would do a lot to cheer me up.
