At Lunch Now: Schnipper’s Runs Out of Sloppy Joe’s

Schnipper’s Quality Kitchen (on 41st and 8th Ave. in the NYT Building) is officially open, and it’s already pretty crowded. Early reports are mixed, and they seem pretty disorganized- but what do you expect on day one? Its only fair to give them a few weeks to work out the kinks.

Most importantly I spotted two ladies partaking in the sloppy joe/mac and cheese combo- and despite looking like brown slop topped with yellow slop in a paper container (no bread), they both said it was
really good! Also looked small for $7 but to be honest I’m not sure how much of this stuff the body could take anyway. Unfortunately by the time I got in line to order (around 1:30pm), they were sold out of Sloppy Joe!  Terrible.  I ended up going to Go Go Curry for their new fish special.

Anybody else sample the Schnipper’s today? Feel free to comment below.

  • Little pricey, but worth it I think. Considering that they just opened, the service was pretty smooth. The green chile burger was decent and the fries were really good. It’s a shame that I’ll be leaving the area soon because they’re a nice addition to the neighborhood.

  • I work in the midtown area. Heard this place opened and tried it today. Had a cheeseburger with Schnipper sauce and something called sloppy fries and a chocolate peanut butter shake.
One of the best burgers I’ve had in a long time. Could see this being a destination spot for burger lovers.
Sloppy fries also highly recommend and the shake too.
Prices really good compared to other burger places in the city.
    Definitely will go back.

  • Somewhere in the bowels of a NY PR firm, shills are working round the clock on the Schnipper acount.

  • just tried it with 2 coworkers. Avg lunch spending was $10-$12 and orders were the bacon bleu burgers with fries and drink and my sloppy dog with onion rings and drink. Food was decent. Comments about alil pricey for the portions are true. Think Midtown Johnny Rockets. Overall decent experience.

  • It was Presidents Day in NY and I did not know where to take my two 7 yr old daughters and their friend for lunch before a 1:30 movie … We stumbled on Schnippers … the only thing I can say is that the girls inhaled 2 amazing Caesar Salads w/chicken, unbelievable mac n cheese, and an oder of sweet potato fries. I had a Schnipper Classic Burger w/ blue cheese, carmalized onions, and bacon (very very satisfying). The kids want to know when we are going back with more of their friends!
