On The ML Downtown Twitter Tracker…: It seems like a lot of trucks are off the road today but you can find Bongo Brothers at Varick & Vandam, Jiannetto's and Domo Taco at Front & Wall, Crisp and Schnitzel & Things are at Hudson & King and Chinese Mirch at Front & Old Slip with palak paneer dumplings. Morris Grilled Cheese is on Water at John with a horchata, chocolate ricotta sandwich, Blend is debuting in the Fidi at Front & Gouverneur and Rickshaw's at Wall & William. GO Burger Kiosk Offers Falafel Burger, Bacon-Topped Dog

There was a quick mention from the GO Burger Truck on Twitter last week that a burger kiosk from the same people had opened outside of the BLT Bar & Grill in the W Hotel on Washington St. (at Carlisle) in that weird part of the Financial District that you often forget about until you have to walk over to Battery Park City.

I finally got a chance to go check it out and while the menu’s pretty basic, there are a few things you might be interested in. The burgers range from $5 for a basic to $7 for one with onions, pepper, pickled jalapeno and melted provolone. There’s also a falafel burger for $6. Sides include fries, sweet potato fries and onion rings for $3 to $5. A couple of hot dogs and shakes round out the menu. If you work in that area and don’t have access to Five Guys or are too lazy to walk to Shake Shack, this could serve you well.

Eat At Schnitzel & Things Truck On The Cheap

I know we don’t often write about Schnitzel & Things on the downtown part of this site, because they’ve been around for a while, but now we have a reason to! There’s a Groupon today for a sandwich (with a side) or platter plus a soda or water for $6 (or $11 for a meal for two) which is more than 50% off. The truck generally parks in Soho and at the World Financial Center lot a couple of days a week so you should have no problem putting this deal to good use. Check the Twitter Tracker for their daily location.

The Twitter Tracker’s Trying To Be Healthy: Food trucks downtown today include Mexicue at Water & Broad, Phil's Steaks is at Front & Wall due to a movie shoot, Bongo Brothers is at Old Slip & Water, Lent Space has Kimchi Tacos, Palenque, Eddie's Pizza, Now Eat This, Juice Pirate and Coolhaus, while the WFC lot has Taim, Milk Truck, Frites N Meats, Andy's Italian Ice and Red Hook Lobster. The ML Downtown Twitter Tracker also has Korilla at Varick & Vandam, Jiannetto's is at Front & Wall with rice balls and the FiDi debut of Nuchas truck, which I believe sells empanadas.

Lemongrass Grill Reboot Lemon Leaves Is A Change For The Better

It’s not unusual to have a Japanese restaurant selling Thai food. What is uncommon is having a chef from a decent, but mostly expensive Thai restaurant like Lemongrass Grill that shuttered on William St. last November, move to another restaurant and start serving the same food for a better price. Lemon Leaves is that reincarnation, opening in the Koodo Sushi on Nassau St. (btw. Maiden Lane & Liberty). When I called in my order the other day, the addition of the Thai menu was so new that the woman on the phone had to figure out what I was trying to order. It all worked out though, and I ended up with a great lunch.
