He’s 12, so let’s see if we can be on our best behavior today in the comments. (I know it’s tough for all of you.)

O-de-ppang’s Sushi Bibimbap Is More Filling Than You’d Think

DSC00141

On Fridays during Lent I’m always on the lookout for a good meatless lunch. While I love me a good fried fish sandwich, sometimes I’m in the mood for something a little lighter but still filling. So when I saw that O-de-ppang! at Food Gallery 32 was now offering a Sashimi Bibimbap for $9.95, I had to check it out.

Street Vendor Project to Celebrate 10 Years w/ Big Party

SVP 10th AnniversaryWe love Street Vendor Project here at Midtown Lunch. Not only do they throw one of the best food event of the year (the Vendys) they do noble work on behalf of our beloved street carts and food trucks. Amazingly enough they turn 10 years old this year and to celebrate they’ll be throwing a special party on March 27th! It will take place downtown at Judson Memorial Church, from 7pm to 10pm, with live music, drinks, and food from past Vendy Award winners. Early bird tickets are just $45, but are only available until tomorrow at 6pm, so grab one before the price goes up!

UPDATE: After this post initially went up we got word that Solber Pupusas and Paty’s Tacos will both be at the event… with more vendors to be announced soon.  Stay tuned!

Ben & Jerry’s Rock Center Has Greek Frozen Yogurt

Ben & Jerry's Greek Fro-yo
A couple of weeks ago, Ben & Jerry’s debuted their new line of Greek frozen yogurt. I had the chance to taste all four flavors and will say that this is infinitely better than regular fro-yo. It’s creamy and thick like ice cream, but not as fat-laden since they use non-fat yogurt. When I got to taste the flavors, they weren’t sure when the individual stores would be rolling out the new flavors, and whether they would have plain vanilla or specific flavors. Well, a quick stop by the Rock Center store last week showed that they will be having a rotation of the flavors including my favorite, Blueberry Vanilla Graham. It’s made by swirling blueberry and vanilla yogurt together. Genius! I totally suggest stopping by for a scoop or a smoothie, especially for those of us already thinking about bikini season.

New Kati Roll On Track to Open Wednesday

Last week, Rachel reported that Kati Roll is opening its second Midtown location on 53rd between 2nd and 3rd. While at the time, it didn’t seem like much progress had been made in the space, a look this morning shows that they’ve posted some signage! According to their Facebook page, they’re still slated to open this Wednesday and management confirms it’s going to happen. Fingers crossed they’re right on schedule!

Get 55% off K’Town’s Arang: Arang might not be open for lunch anymore, but they're still one of the best places to hang out for some after work eats. Clay was particular fond of their katsu.  Want to check it out for yourself?  You can get $40 worth of food at Arang, for just $18 on our deals page.

Cer Te To Serve Up A Duo Of Lamb In March

Looks like March will go out like a lamb at Certe (on 55th btw. 5+6th) which is introducing its March sandwich tomorrow, featuring “pulled” roasted leg of lamb with mint marmalade, smoked paprika aioli, and fried asparagus ribbons on a spicy garlic baguette.  Not to be outdone, Pizza By Certe (on 56th btw. Park+Lex) will also be starting a lamb special of their own. It’s a pizza topped w/ spicy lamb meatballs, fava beans, goat cheese and sautéed minted cherry tomatoes.  Both specials start tomorrow, and will be available for the entire month of March.

Cer Te, 20 W 55th St (btw 5+6th), 212-397-2020
Pizza by Cer Te, 132 East 56th (btw. Park+Lex) (212) 813-2020

Shake Shack’s March Custard Calendar is Up: The March custard calendar is up at Shake Shack and features Salty Chocolate Peanut Butter on Monday, Rootbeer Freeze on Tuesday, S'mores on Weds, Buttery Caramel Cocoa Nib on Thursday, and Maple Bacon Banan-za on Friday (a curious choice considering we're smack dab in the middle of Lent. Mint Chocolate Chip and Fluffernutter round out the weekend.
