Mamacita’s Midtown Halloween Happy Hour Guide

If you like to eat, chances are you like to drink (read: a lot of you are freakin’ lushes), so I thought maybe it was time to introduce a happy hour column to the site. Every week, our Happy Hour Correspondent “Mamacita” posts about a different bar in Midtown that fits the Midtown Lunch mentality: unhealthy food, not lame (unless it’s lame in a cool way), and most importantly… cheap.  Because it’s Halloween on Saturday, Mamacita figured she would give you a list of all the Happy Hours and Halloween parties going on tonight and tomorrow night.

All Hallows’ Eve may rival St Paddy’s for the most lubricated holiday of the year, that is, unless you spend Christmas with the in-laws. There’s a parade, revelers dressed in ghoulish costumes, and drunken masses hitting the bars. To top it all off this year it lands on a weekend. Who could ask for anything more? Here is the round up of local haunts for tonight and Halloween:

NYC’s biggest drunken stumble of them all starts tonight with a three-day bar crawl engulfing many a Midtown staple. More than 100 New York City bars are participating. Your ticket includes cover charges and drink specials at each and every bar on the trip. The official “Midtown bar crawl” is tonight, October 30th and continues to November 1st. Tickets are $15 for a single night of crawling, or $30 for all three nights, although you can get discounted tickets here .

Registration begins at TG Whitneys (on 53rd btw. 2+3rd), and lasts from 5-10pm. There will be drink specials including $2 Bud Light, 2-for-1 Pumpkin Ales and 2-for-1 Halloween Cocktails (Drink Specials May Vary at Each Bar.) For more info, and a list of participating venues go to Halloween Now.

But wait, there’s more…

The Mean Fiddler (on 47th btw. 7+8th) is also celebrating Halloween with a party tonight through Sunday night. Prizes for best costume each night with “Scary drink specials!!” (What? Are we talking Jager shots here?) It all begins today with an after work party, Saturday for a Halloween bash, and ends on Sunday with a “service industry party.”

Faces & Names (on 54th btw. 6+7th) will contribute to the weekend madness tonight and Saturday. Come in for a Trick or Treat. They’ll be serving Goblin Brewed Cocktails, and VOOODOOO Shots!

Slattery’s Midtown Pub (on 36th btw. Mad+5th; 212-683-6444) is having a fancy dress Halloween party on Friday with happy hour “potions, spooky spot prizes and gooey munchies”. Not sure what that means but happy hour is 3 to 7pm so you’ll get a cheap drink with your gooey munchy.

Figaro (a sister bar to Judge Roy Bean), on 44th btw. 5+6th (212.840.1010), is having a Halloween party tonight from 8pm till everyone passes out. It’s $30 per person and there is an open Bar.

925 Lounge (on 2nd Ave. btw 41+42nd; 888-341-4169) is having a Halloween Costume Contest! Best costume for Halloween gets a free happy hour for 20 people. Stop in and enter your name on Saturday Oct. 31st.

Blue Ruin (on 9th btw. 39+40th) is starting off their Halloween weekend tonight at Happy Hour. Everyone showing up early in costume gets their first drink free! Drink specials all night. On Saturday there’s the Halloween party & costume contest. The party starts after Happy Hour, with drink specials & giveaways. The costume contest will follow with the winner getting a $100 bar tab.

Rudy’s (on 9th Ave. btw. 44+45th) decks out it’s Pig and gives everyone a taste of its wiener, gratis! From the looks of last years festivities this is a great spot for the locals and anyone tired of the mayhem of the parade.

Though I’m not a big fan of Legends (on 33rd btw. Mad+5th), if you are stumbling out of Rick’s Cabaret or in the area this Halloween deal is good. On Saturday there’s a $500 cash prize for best costume, $5 Cocktails and Video DJ all night.

Bar Nine is providing musical entertainment tonight with two bands: the Hrny Wrms and the Lifeguard Nights. On Halloween they have a Zeppelin tribute band called Led Blimpie. Is their love of Zeppelin only matched by their love of sandwiches?

And finally Blackfinn (on 53rd btw. 2+3rd) claims that this Saturday they will transform into a “haunted house.” Your guess is as good as mine, but what I do know is they are advertising following specials: Open Bar from 9pm – 12 $30. 10pm – 1am is $35. 11pm – 2am is $40. All beer, wine and premium mixed drinks included. $3 Halloween shots, DJ and dancing all night, and a $500 cash prize to best costume chosen by the audience. Come early in costume and watch the Yankees play the World Series. Starting at 8:00, $25 game special for the duration of the game gets you unlimited bud and bud lite draft and hot wings. $35 gets you a premium open bar – beer wine and premium mixed drinks and unlimited wings for the duration of the game.

  • Im doing a jack the ripper/hooker party tomorrow.

    Your all invited,

And the joke is…..the girls dress as jack!…..where as i shall dress as nancy pelosi.

  • Is the mummy in the poster wrapped in french fries? Because if yes, it would figure.

  • I’m nt sure I understand the discounted tickets. For Saturday’s crawl, it looks like tickets range from $7.50 to $25 based on where you want to register (for the same crawl). And some of the cheaper tickets let you register earlier than some pricier ones? Huh???

  • Is the mummy in the logo made of french frys? (Chips to you Rudy)

  • I always suspected that the ‘McBagel’ looked a lot like nancy pelosi. Tell, me Rudy, is nancy giving you some special medical care, some special physical therapy treatments, some special herbal spa treatments?

After all, it is obvious that you need them after bucking all those fuffalos.
