Got the White Girl Version at Cafe Pho Ga Thanh Thanh

Cafe Pho Ga Thanh Thanh is Kensington’s spot for one thing- pho ga, Vietnamese chicken broth and rice noodle soup. Small bowls are $8 and can come with a medley of dark meat and other chicken parts, or, as was offered to me- with just plain ol’ white meat. I don’t love skin and bone in my soup and was not ashamed to accept their Americanized soup. Sorry not sorry.

Lunch Links (The “Fried Chicken Bucket” Edition)

  • Bud and Marilyn’s is serving lunch, with menu items includes lots of fried chicken [Foobooz]
  • 500 Degree Burger is closing and a custom pizza place is opening in its place later this winter [The Insider]
  • A pig-only restaurant is opening in Fishtown [Eater]
  • Coco’s on Jewelers Row has been replaced by Craftsman Row, operated by the Opa crew and they kept the French Dip [Foobooz]

Matt and Marie’s Porchetta and Pancetta Sandwich

Matt and Marie’s has been going strong with their Center City sandwich sales for a year and a half with a simple menu of about 10 sandwiches and a few salads. Currently, they are phasing out their  “Pieta Pastrami” that featured shaved hot (don’t even, Wayne) pastrami, house-made dill pickled cucumbers & onions, and pepperoncini aioli and are replacing it with “The Testarossa.”

Talula’s Daily Has a Secret Ingredient and Fairy Friendly Tea

If I lived closer to Talula’s Daily it would be dangerous. The changing menu always hosts a few irresistible items, both savory and sweet. But, I am not often in the Washington Square Park area, so I  used that as an excuse to do an indulgent sampling of treats.
