Sarcone’s Meatball Hoagie

Pretty much every time I visit Sarcone’s Deli, I order some rendition of an Italian Hoagie. The layers of high quality meat and cheese on that beautiful bread are too perfect to resist. But a hot, saucy sandwich on a cold day seemed like it could be a nice change of pace.

Cheu Noodle Bar Twerking Ramen Bowls

We’ve come a long way since the days of the offensively-named-to-some “Roundeye Noodle Bar” pop ups. These days, Cheu Noodle Bar brings in a solid lunch and dinner crowd every day to their permanent location on 10th Street. The space, that once upon a time housed Maru Global, has been completely transformed with a few small tables and seating at the bar. Its definitely cramped, but nobody seems to mind.  A promise of new menu items reminded me it had been too long since I visited, and that I had never gotten around to writing about them. I needed a memory and mouth refresher.

Petit Roti, A French Cafe without the Hate Crimes

A French rotisserie opened this winter, bringing the relaxing French cafe experience to Washington Square West without any of the rampant, disgusting, violent anti Semitism that you’d find in France. How nice.

Petit Roti specialized in chicken; chicken sandwiches and whole roasted chicken. Takeout is easy, but its also nice to relax at a cute table and people watch out the window facing 11th street.

A Bibbed Crawfish Boil at Dex and Syd’s

Driving past Dex and Syd’s a few months ago, I noticed the ‘fresh boiled crawfish’ sign and stored it in my mental Rolodex. This week, while looking for a more interactive meal, I brought a bunch of friends over for a communal seafood experience. Dex and Syd’s is largely a take out sandwich shop, with a menu of cheesesteaks and burgers. The more unique offerings though, are the seafood platters and boiled seafood by the pound.
