$5 Burritos At Toloache Are A Good Way To Celebrate Cinco De Mayo

The stars aligned yesterday as I was trying to decide what I wanted for lunch, and my brain randomly replied “burrito.” The nearest source of decent burritos to my office is Toloache Taqueria on Maiden Lane (btw. William & Gold) and it was a good excuse to go back there since I’d already tried their tacos and pozole. When I got there I saw the above sign in the window advertising $5 burritos on Cinco de Mayo which just happens to be today. Calexico Cart Defection On The Twitter Tracker: Sad news for all of you Calexico lovers in SoHo. Starting tomorrow the Broome St. cart will be moving to 24th & Broadway, but the Prince & Wooster location will remain. Also on the ML Downtown Twitter Tracker, Wafels & Dinges truck is on Hanover and they have a cart on Greenwich. Joyride is on Hudson, Bian Dang is on Broad St. and Korilla BBQ is on Front.

It seems like every new place opening in or near the Financial District is trying to make their food healthy-sounding. And this is what you get from Soul Daddy, a new restaurant at the South St. Seaport, begat from a reality TV show, that we first showed you Tuesday. The restaurant takes soul food, puts it in a space that is reminiscent of Chipotle, and tries to let you eat lunch without having a heart attack afterward.
