Toloache Taqueria: Do We Finally Have Good Mexican In The FiDi?

In what may have been the quickest turnaround of making a sandwich shop into a taco one, Toloache Taqueria opened last week on Maiden Lane (btw. Gold & William). This was a big deal for lunch’ers in the Financial District because we are barren down here for good tacos and tortas.  I was there during their first real day of service, because someone had to eat fancified Mexican food for research purposes. Toloache Taqueria Might Actually Open On Schedule

I admit I was a little skeptical when Toloache Taqueria announced an opening date of Dec. 9…last week. The new store in the old Swich location on Maiden Lane (btw. Gold & William) looked mostly ready to go on Wednesday, with a sign on the door saying they were closed for a private event. That event looked an awful lot like employee training, so fingers crossed for an opening today. And while there was no menu in sight, the front window announces they’re serving tacos and tortas among other things.

Huge News: Toloache Bringing Tacos To Old Swich Location!

A walk past the former Swich space on Maiden Lane (btw. Gold & William) during the monsoon yesterday showed that it’s quickly being turned into a location of midtown “Mexican Bistro” Toloache. This is major news not only because their food is tasty, but because we’re definitely starved for good Mexican down here. It looks like it will be a downscale taqueria version of the other location, but it’s hard to get a read when the windows are papered over.
