Toloache Taqueria Might Actually Open On Schedule

I admit I was a little skeptical when Toloache Taqueria announced an opening date of Dec. 9…last week. The new store in the old Swich location on Maiden Lane (btw. Gold & William) looked mostly ready to go on Wednesday, with a sign on the door saying they were closed for a private event. That event looked an awful lot like employee training, so fingers crossed for an opening today. And while there was no menu in sight, the front window announces they’re serving tacos and tortas among other things.

  • They were actually open on Tuesday. I stopped in after grabbing lunch elsewhere to get a menu. Looks like there are lots of good options (tacos, salads, soups). If I knew they’d be closed the next day I would have tried something!

  • Either that sign is sorta hideous or the owner is a huge Syracuse fan.

@Chris H: I couldn’t believe that orange sign when I saw it, but I’m hoping it’s a temporary one to cover up the previous sandwich shop’s. If their tacos are good I’ll forgive them.

If he opened a shop selling real mexican food in the FiDi, I’d forgive STALIN.
