Midtown Lunch

With the exception of the occasional DOH brush up, we’ve never really written about Bombay Palace (on 52nd btw. 5+6th), mostly because their all you can eat lunch buffet is way outside the ML price range.  But clearly somebody eats there and to show their appreciation this holiday season they’ve decided to give away free servings of their signature chicken biryani on Wednesday (12/21) from Noon to 3pm.  It’s eat in only, but they say you don’t have to order anything else.  They’ll have a station set up with the chicken biryani, and you’ll be able to help yourself to as much as you want!?  Seems too good to be true… but the price is right!  Freeloaders, prepare to engage.

If you’ve been wanting to try Chom Chom (the upscale, out of the ML price range Korean place on 56th btw. 5+6th) but didn’t want to shell out the cash, you’ll want to mark Monday (12/13) on your calendar.  From 2-4:30pm they’ll be giving away a free tasting of their dumplings and kapas menu (that’s “Korean tapas” in case you wondering).  There are 22 items on the “Kapas” menu including  tofu pizza, tuna tartare, and bo ssam.  Freeloaders, prepare to engage.

The newest branch of AQ Kafe (on 10th Ave btw. 36+37th) opened yesterday morning and to celebrate they’re giving away free stuff every day for the rest of the week.  Today they’ll be giving away sandwiches from 11am to 3pm, tomorrow (Thursday) there will be free cinnamon buns from 3-6pm, and on Friday it’s free coffee all day long.  It’s about time something great happened to the poor lunchers in the technically-out-of-bounds SW corner of the ML universe. Enjoy!

Just scored some free food from the “Green Truck” thanks to this post in the forums. Apparently they’re going to be parked in Midtown until 6:30pm handing out free veggie burgers and sweet tea in honor of “Green Week” on NBC. The veggie burgers are smallish (like the size of a big dinner roll) but kind of good. It’s got some interesting fixings and more than a little spice. Patty was mushy and bun was a bit hard, but I’m not complaining. (It was free!) There was no line whatsoever when I was there. They are doing it all week long at different locations, and you have to follow their twitter to know where (natch.) And we’ll add them to the ML Twitter Tracker for the week, for those of you whose work has blocked Twitter.

Environmentally friendly freeloaders, engage.

If you’ve been curious about the new lunchtime tacos at La Biblioteca, but haven’t been over to try them yet, you’ll want to mark Monday on your calendar.  From 11:30am to 12:30pm (on Monday, Nov. 15th) every single Midtown Luncher who walks in the door at La Biblioteca will get a 3 tacos combo for free.  The orders will be to go only, and they’ll have one pulled roast chicken taco, one grilled mahi mahi taco, and one carne asada taco, so they can give out as many orders as possible.  Limit one order per person, and drinks, guacamole, and sides will be available for an additional charge.

Can’t make it there by 12:30pm?  Everybody who shows up after 12:30pm will get a free order of guacamole.  Freeloaders… this is a big one.  Prepare to engage.
