PROFILE: Midtown Lunch’er “Sydney”

Every Tuesday we turn over the site to a different Midtown Lunch’er for his or her recommendations for the best lunch in Midtown. This week it’s Sydney, a receptionist who hates “health food” but is looking for a salad recommendation…

Name: Sydney

Age: 21

Occupation: Receptionist and Blogger

Where in Midtown do you Work?: Rockefeller Center

Favorite Kind of Food: Authentic Mexican food (I grew up in Arizona)

Least Favorite Kind of Food: “Health food”, i.e. energy bars, protein shakes, etc.

Favorite Place(s) to Eat Lunch in Midtown: Tacos de Cabeza & Tacos Hongos from Toloache (on 50th btw. B’way+8th), Spicy Tuna Roll and Amberjack sashimi from Hatsuhana (on 48th btw. Mad+5th), and Drunken Noodles from Little Thai Kitchen (on 53rd btw. 2+3rd)

“Go-To” Lunch Place You and Your Coworkers Eat at Too Often? Blue Dog Cafe (on 56th btw. 6+7th); they have amazing sandwiches, my favorite being the Ricotta, Fig, and Honey on 7-Grain Bread. They also have fantastic coffee! The dirty iced chai latte that they make is to die for.

Place(s) you discovered thanks to Midtown Lunch? All of the tasty food trucks! I also found out about the delicious veggie sandwiches from Katchkie Farms at the Rockefeller Center Farmer’s Market.

If you could work anywhere (just because of the lunch) where would it be and why? Union Square in the summer, just so I can have access to a farmer’s market whenever I want! Either that or Montreal so I can have poutine for lunch…it’s probably for the best that I don’t live there!

Is there anything you’d like to ask the Midtown Lunch readers? Where is the most fresh tasting salad in Midtown? I’m sick of soggy salads!

Got a recommendation for Sydney? Put it in the comments. And as always if you want to be next week’s Profiled: Midtown Lunch’er (or know somebody you’d like to nominate), email editor@midtownlunch.com.
