Eddie’s Pizza Truck Hits The Streets Today (With Free Pizza)

Eddies Pizza Truck
Just a friendly reminder… today’s the day Eddie’s Pizza Truck is finally ready to serve pizza to the hungry masses! I have been highly anticipating this truck for the past few months, maybe it’s my Long Island pride coming through, so I couldn’t wait for the first day of lunch to try their pie. Instead I braved the cold, rain, and street puddles last night to stop by their opening party in Union Square.

If you were smart enough to hit this up last night, you know they supplied an ample amount of free hot pizza to the patrons of SideBar. I got to sample a few slices of regular and a few of spinach and I have to say they are going to give the other pizza trucks some stiff competition. Their crust is cracker thin, crunchy, and strong enough to hold toppings. The sauce is a tad sweet, they’re generous with the cheese, and both are pretty awesome as well.

Pies are going to be made fresh on the truck from the four ovens they have onboard-each oven has a double layer which hopefully means quick turnarounds for a fresh pies.

Their plan is to show us some Midtown love today, provided the other vendors will let them. And remember, the first 100 bar pies are free! They will be posting their location on on twitter @EddiesPizzaNY at some point this morning, or you can check the ML Twitter Tracker. UPDATE: As of right now, they are planning to park on 40th btw. 5+6th and the free pizza starts at Noon.  If something changes, they will post to twitter.
