Postcard From Los Angeles (KFC Weed Dispensaries Really Exist!)
This place is already incredibly well known in L.A., but I’m new here so I didn’t know about it (and thought you guys would get a huge kick out it.) After reading Mamacita’s post yesterday about the double down, I was completely drawn in by the top of this (what I thought was a) KFC in the Palms section of L.A. yesterday. Sadly, when I pulled up to score my double down I discovered it had been converted into a weed dispensary!! Yes, this is the spot that was the inspiration for the recent KFC South Park episode. Yes, I completely felt like Cartman (complete with yelling and cursing.) And yes, I was foiled in my attempt to eat the new double down. (Which could be a good thing or a bad thing depending on who you ask.)
Speaking of which…
How hilarious were all those “reviewers” yesterday who clearly don’t love KFC to begin with but felt the need to go out and critique this particular sandwich. I’m not saying the sandwich is the greatest sandwich of all time (and people like Jamie Oliver aren’t completely wrong to suggest this could be a signal of endtimes.) I’m just saying you don’t need to try the double down to know whether or not you’re going to like the way it tastes. It is what it is. What did these people expect the thing to taste like?! If you don’t love KFC’s chicken sandwiches to begin with, but expected two of them sandwiched around fast food quality cheese and bacon (with no protective bun) to somehow transcend the genre, that’s your fault… not the sandwich’s!

I don’t see why they both can’t operate out of the same store. A KFC and Weed Dispensary working together would create perfect symbiosis.
I just really want to see Popeyes do their version. I see it as a shrimp po’ boy with spicy chicken breasts for buns.
