Pete Wells Loves the Trini-Paki Boys Cart

via Twitter today:

C’mon boys… this is the Dining Editor of the New York Times we’re talking about. Don’t you think he knows what chicken and rice cart he’s talking about?

So… I gotta ask:

Good to know… I think if I worked in the New York Times Building (on 8th Ave. btw. 40+41st) my new go-to lamb/chicken over rice cart would have to be the new Kwik Meal Cart on 37th & 7th named after President Obama. Anybody else have any other street meat recommendations in that area? Put them in the comments…

  • in fact i DO work in the ny times building (but not for the times) and i DID go to the obama cart. i almost called mohammed because the lamb WAS chewy arrghh. they also didn’t have yellow rice and no squirty thing with hot green sauce. they just lightly spooned it on. all kwik meal offshoots are not created equal! i’ll prob still go back though…

  • Pete Wells is correct — Trini-Pak rulez!

  • Hey, quit talking shit about that cart. it’s good! And the white sauce is also great.

It’s located by the tasty baked potato king as well!

  • Yes, Trini-Pak’s chicken is a lot more flavorful than 53rd and 6th. He knows what he’s talking about.

  • there are two carts on 41st and 7th, one on the NE side, one on the SE. SE is bad, NE is pretty good–not as great as 43rd & 6th or 53rd & 6th, but definitely satisfying (and still just $5 unlike the others who’ve gone up the buck).

  • I think the chicken at famous 53rd has now become inedible. Drunk or sober.
