Last Day for Peanut Butter Month Treats at Magnolia

Peanut Butter Month Treats
I’ll be the first to admit that I’m not Magnolia Bakery’s biggest fan. I side with Blondie in thinking that they are good for everything but cupcakes. That said I’m sad that September is already coming to a close because I only just discovered that Magnolia is carrying special Peanut Butter Month treats. Read more »

Get Half Off Bann & Bamboo 52

Do you like Bann Next Door, but have always wanted to try Bann?  Well here’s your chance to do it for less.  Today’s Open Table deal gets you $50 worth of food at Bann for just $25.  Sadly it’s not good for lunch or Bann Next Door.  And speaking of Hell’s Kitchen splurges… today’s Google Deal gets you $50 worth of food at Bamboo 52 for $25 as well (the Happy Hour spot where Blondie and Brownie had their 1 year blog-versary.)  Enjoy, you cheap bastards!

WTF Japadog!?: It was over four years ago that our fearless leader begged the popular Vancouver hot dog cart Japadog to come to Midtown, so imagine how excited we were to hear that they are finally coming to NYC.  Too bad the shop is opening on St. Marks.  What a bunch of bulls&*t!  Clearly there is going to need to be 2 Japadogs in NYC...

Your First Look at The Rolling Kitchen Truck

The Rolling Kitchen

Not sure how, but somehow The Rolling Kitchen truck (on 40th btw Park+Lex) has managed to elude our attention!  According to their Twitter they have been around since early July, but if I hadn’t randomly walked down on 40th St yesterday, I still wouldn’t know about this truck. Check out their menu after the jump.

Desi Shack’s Official Grand Opening is Monday

Desi Shack
A couple of days ago while walking down Lexington I noticed in big words “Coming Soon Desi Shack” (on 39th Street). According to their website, they will be offering grilled meats on skewers (and veggie options) to go with rice, salad and paratha. Right now they’re on soft opening mode but plan to officially open on Monday the 3rd. Check out the full menu on their site.

Desi Shack, 331 Lexington Ave at 39th St, 212-867-3374

Ma Peche Rejiggers Their Online Ordering System: If you like ordering lunch from Ma Peche (on 56th btw. 5+6th), but found their rule filed online ordering system to be annoying, you'll be excited for this news... they debuted a new online ordering system on Tuesday.  It's not only easier to navigate, but it has a lot more menu items now available- including pork buns, the pork belly sandwich they created for our birthday party, and party packs for 8-12 people.

Contributor Stalking (The “Cosmically Delicious” Edition)

Do you wonder what the ML contributors do when they’re not eating lunch in Midtown? (We’re actually pretty easy to stalk!)

Fried chicken at Brooklyn Star. Photo by Donny.

Donny really enjoyed Brooklyn Star’s fried chicken dinner, Brian checked out that Chef’s Mau Po Tofu at Szechuan Gourmet, Brownie put together her own photo recap of last weekend’s Vendy Awards, while Blondie gave us a heads up that the NYC Food Film Festival is on its way, Chris H. gushed over the food and the chef at Forcello in Williamsburg and I finally started reporting on the food I had in Peru with a post on The Tree House in the town of Machu Picchu.

Elsewhere in the ML universe… Andrea gave us a Downtown perspective to the Vendys with her Downtown Lunch recap, while Jamie discovered what doubles are with the help of the Mini Trini truck in Philly and Zach breaks the ML price limit for a an exceptional all you can eat Brazilian bargain at Libra in Culver City, Los Angeles.

7-11 Free Coffee Reminder: Remember the free 7-11 coffee thing we told you about last week? Well, tomorrow morning is the big giveaway. From 7am to 11am you can get a free medium coffee from all participating 7-11. We're assuming that includes all the Midtown locations, including the the one that just opened last week at the corner of 33rd and Madison.

From Profiled Luncher to the New York Times

A big congrats to magician/food blogger Josh Beckerman on his huge profile in today’s New York Times food section.  Josh actually lives in Midtown, and old school Midtown Lunch’ers may recognize him from this profile 3 1/2 years ago. I wonder if he ever found that Italian hoagie… if you believe the New York Times he never did find that single gal looking to date a magician/foodie.
