No Taco Bell Cantina Tacos for Midtown: Before you get super excited over Serious Eats' (surprisingly) great review of Taco Bell's new Cantina Tacos, you should probably know that none of the 3 Midtown locations of Taco Bell are serving them (8th Ave., 3rd Ave. and Penn Station all said they didn't have them when we called today.)

Pop Tarts World Is Now Open?: Today's New York Times has a ton more info on that Pop Tarts craziness opening tomorrow on 42nd btw 6th+B'way. Apparently it will have a cafe serving pop tarts sushi ("three kinds of Pop-Tarts minced and then wrapped in a fruit roll-up") and sandwiches ("marshmallow spread sandwiched between two Pop-Tarts frosted fudge pastries".) Wow. Just... wow. [via Eater] UPDATE IN THE COMMENTS: Apparently it's already open...

Want to Make Mexican BBQ For a Living?: We're big fans of the food at the two week old Mexicue Truck... the lines? Not so much. Thankfully they've recognized the issue and are looking for more help via Craigslist. Having a food vendor license is a plus (naturally) but not a requirement. Here's to them hiring more people quick!

The New Bon Chon is Open!: We have confirmation that the new Bon Chon (on 5th Ave. btw. 32+33rd) is actually open and serving food, and according to this comment the lines haven't been too bad, and the drumsticks are full size! (Not the drumettes that Kyochon serves.)

Bon Chon Opening This Afternoon (Or Not): Big surprise! The opening of the new Bon Chon (on 5th btw. 32+33rd) has been held up (isn't it always?) and they are now saying tomorrow is the big day they'll be open this afternoon. Apparently there was a problem with a fryer, which has been resolved. (Although we'll believe it when we see it with our own eyes.) Kyochon sends a big hearty "thank you" for the extra business... UPDATE: As of 3pm, it's still not open. Go after work at your own risk, we're going to wait until tomorrow to try again.

Sietsema Disappointed by the Whopper Bar: Village Voice food critic (and good friend to Midtown Lunch) Robert Sietsema popped up on Slashfood yesterday to post about the newly open Whopper Bar in Times Square. According to him, none of the sandwiches improved on the original- and he made the big mistake of actually looking under the bun.
