PROFILE: Midtown Lunch’er “Brad”

Every Tuesday we turn over the site to a different Midtown Lunch’er for his or her recommendations for the best lunch in Midtown. This week it’s Brad, a Marketing guy looking for a sushi deal.

Name: Brad

Age: 29

Occupation: Marketing

Where in Midtown do you work? Midtown East in the 50s

Favorite Kind of Food: Bagels for breakfast and a steady diet of Thai and Mexican for the rest. Steamed fresh lobster on special occasions.

Least Favorite Kind of Food: Kimchi, crêpes , pre-made grocery store rotisserie chickens.

Favorite Place(s) to Eat Lunch in Midtown: Chickpea (on 45th btw. Mad+Vanderbilt), Num Pang (on 41st btw. Lex+3rd), the-no-longer-affiliated-with-Crisp Crisp on Wheels Truck.

“Go-To” Lunch Place You and Your Coworkers Eat at Too Often? Just Salad. It used to be Pret a Manger until I realized I could get a freshly made salad for the same price. Yeah, I eat salad…it can be pretty unhealthy if you try hard enough. Also Liberty Deli (49th between Madison and 5th) Surprisingly decent pizza, especially for the neighborhood.

Place you discovered thanks to Midtown Lunch?: El Ray del Sabor-I remember back in day when I had to trek all the way up to 59th and Lex to get quality Mexican. Then they added the cart on 49th and I lived happily ever after. La Bellezza (49th between Lex and 3rd) for their chicken parm sub. Gourmet 53 (Lex between 52nd and 53rd) when I’m in the mood for a little bit of everything.

If you could work any in the world, purely for lunch purposes, where would it be? If I were to remain in NYC it would be Chinatown. I would get FAT on dumplings. If i were to move, I’d pick whatever area in Japan has the best sushi. Speaking of…

Anything you’d like to ask the midtown lunch readers? Where can I get anything close to a Midtown Lunch sushi special? My go-to spot was Sushi You (on 51st btw. 2+3rd), but then they raised their prices and I’ve been unable to find a replacement.
