Chhaya Cafe’s Sausage Gravy Waffles

Chhaya Cafe is a small, relaxing spot to get coffee and light eats on East Passyunk. There are just a few things on the menu that are more robust than light, hence my visit. Fresh waffles are one of Chhaya’s signature plates; most come with fruit or other sweet fixings. There is a vegan chili waffle on the menu as well, but just one of the waffles involves meat- easy decision.

The truck’s bright blue hue with purple flowers and orange “FOO” sign are unmistakable when it makes its rounds at Love Park, Northern Liberties and elsewhere in town. Just as distinct are the combination of Asian-themed flavors served up in its uniquely-named foowiches.
