Wafels & Dinges Now Has A Permanent Home:

In case you missed it yesterday, Wafels & Dinges opened the doors of a brick and mortar location in the East Village. It’s out of bounds of our downtown coverage area, but since many of you are fans, we figured it was worth a mention. Perhaps snag yourself a wafel from their cart at the base of the Brooklyn Bridge in celebration?

Wafels & Dinges Brings Free Food Downtown Today

Wafels & Dinges is bringing a little sweetness to those of you downtown who still may not have power, water or access to delicious waffles. Today from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. they’ll be giving out free wafels at their cart in City Hall Park across from the Brooklyn Bridge entrance on Centre St. (as well as at 14th & 3rd Ave. and Astor Place), through a sponsorship by Jet Blue. If you’ve had a tough week, maybe a sugar high is in order.

Wafels & Dinges’ Corn Waffle With Chili Makes A Good Light Lunch

Last week’s cooler weather brought out the sweaters and also a lot of hearty seasonal specials at trucks and other lunch spots. Wafels & Dinges took the opportunity to add to its savory side with the winter addition of the corn waffle with either meat or vegetable chili along with some toppings. But would this $7 concoction be more of a lunch than one of their regular sweet waffle concoctions?

City Hall Park Will Now Smell Like Belgian Waffles 12 Hours Per Day

waffles cart
Yesterday the new Wafels & Dinges cart made its first appearance in City Hall Park, and ML contributor Brian spotted it at the foot of the Brooklyn Bridge, taking advantage of all those tourists and hungry employees from 1 Centre St. The cart will be there wafting its delicious smells from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. every day, so now you can get a taco across the street at Nixtamalito and supplement it with a waffle with spekuloos. Or put the taco meat on top of a waffle? The possibilities are endless.

It’s National Waffle (Wafel?) Day!: Just in case you forgot, National Waffle Day is upon us. Wafels & Dinges will have its truck on Hanover Sq. today and will be crowning Mr. and Miss Wafel following a contest starting at 1 p.m. And freeloader alert: If you do a drawing of the truck or write a poem about waffles you can get your hands on a free wafel from the truck.

Earn The Envy Of Your Friends: Compete For The Mr./Miss Wafel Title

In honor of National Wafel Day tomorrow, the Wafels & Dinges truck is gearing up for the annual festivities and crowning of Mr. and Miss Wafel and they want you to be a part of the celebration taking place at Hanover Square. There be free (you guessed it) wafels in exchange for artistic expression, and you can sign up to take part in the contest to crown the winners. You have to do so by 4 p.m. today and full details can be found on their blog. Click through for more information on how to get free food at the event and see what the prize is if you win.

Wafels & Dinges Brings Cart, Jealousy to South Street Seaport

Those of us working south of Houston St. have often had to deal with our envy of our brethren in Midtown with their wealth of carts and trucks. Well, now if we want a Belgian waffle in the Financial District, we will always know where to find one as the Wafels & Dinges Truck has brought a permanent cart to the South Street Seaport (at Fulton & Front streets), right in front of the Gap store.

The two guys working at the cart told me it’s there permanently and that they will have everything the truck does except for the pulled pork. It’s open daily from 10 a.m. until 9 p.m.

According to Thomas DeGeest from the truck, it’s the first of a few carts they’re launching this summer. He also said that the DOH “freaked out at inspection and gave us a hard time – but we passed,” and that he’s using the cart to show memories of his life in Belgium.

It’s definitely a welcome addition to the tourist-trappy Seaport, and it will be interesting to see where else the carts pop up. And if your dream is a khaki shopping spree followed by a Belgian waffle, well, now that can come true.
