Simit + Smith Opens Second Downtown Location With Freebies For Government Workers

If you thought the Financial District didn’t have enough options for bread with holes in the middle, you’re in luck: A location of Simit + Smith opened today on William St. at Platt. They specialize in Turkish simit which are the thinner, lighter cousin of the bagel, and they also have at least one solid sandwich. Between this and Blue Spoon Coffee across the street, this block has some solid carb options. Also, according to their Twitter, if you have a government ID you can get a free simit through Friday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.

First Look: An Exemplary Turkey Sandwich At Simit + Smith

It’s not often you get a glowing e-mail about a turkey sandwich. That was the case last week when Lunch’er Chris wrote in to say that he had checked out the new location of Simit + Smith on Worth St. (btw. Broadway & Lafayette), and had a “phenomenal” turkey sandwich. A great turkey sandwich at a place specializing in the bagel-like Turkish simit? This needed an investigation!

Have you ever wished for a thinner bagel with a larger hole in the middle? Enter the Turkish simit, which can now be found in Downtown Lunch territory on Worth St. (btw. Broadway & Lafayette) which is the second location in the city. There’s also a shop coming soon to William & John streets. In addition to the simit and loaves of bread, you can get sandwiches and coffee. First impressions seem to be favorable, and at least one Lunch’er has written in an said they had a very good sandwich there. Expect a full report soon!
