Get 30% Off Lunch At The Harrison: The Harrison, on Greenwich St. in Tribeca, is a little too fancy for your average Downtown Lunch, but there's a deal on Blackboard Eats today for 30% off at lunch which just might let you get out of there for about $10. You have to order either one entree or two apps per person, so you can't be too cheap.

Phil’s Steaks Finally Hitting FiDi!: In food truck land today, we have Phil's Steaks making its downtown debut at Front & Old Slip, Real Good Truck at Varick & Vandam, Frying Dutchmen at Varick & King, Sweetery's at Hudson & King, Our Heros is at Wall & Water with onion crusted chicken, Mexicue is at Broad & Water, Kimchi Taco's at Hudson & Charlton and Frites N Meats is at Church & Walker. We also have Bongo Brothers at Old Slip & Water and Wall St. Burgers at Hudson & King. The ML Downtown Twitter Tracker also tells us the WFC lot has Eddie's Pizza, Cupcake Crew, Milk Truck and Red Hook Lobster.

I know many of you are fans of Alfanoose on Maiden Lane (btw. Broadway & Nassau), but based on the couple of times I’ve eaten there I have to say I just don’t get the hype. Maybe at one point their falafel was phenomenal, but these days I’d rather head over the Crisp for one of their wild concoctions. One place that often falls under the radar and offers many of the same items as Alfanoose is The Country Kebab over at Fulton & Gold. A look at the menu showed something called muchver, aka zucchini patties. I’d had something similar at Pita Press and was interested in how Country Kebab’s version compared. Read more »

Reminder: Lunchtime Street Vendor Project Rally At City Hall Today!: A friendly reminder that street vendors and their supporters will be gathering at City Hall from noon to 3 p.m. today in support of two bills that would lower fines, including the $1,000 one for minor infractions. The Street Vendor Project organized the event and you can RSVP here for it, or just show up on your way to or from lunch.

Grilled Cheese, Pizza At WFC Lot: The ML Downtown Twitter Tracker has some good stuff including Wafels & Dinges at 60 Wall, Frites N Meats is at Hudson & King with a burger called the "spicy jazz," and Sweetery and Big D's Grub are on the same block, Korilla's at Front & Gouverneur minus tofu, Rickshaw's on Wall St. and GO Burger is at Varick & Vandam. The WFC lot has Mike N Willie's, Valducci's, a new one called Mexico Blvd. Milk Truck and Coolhaus.

If you’ve been paying attention to the ML Downtown Twitter Tracker, you may have noticed Big D’s Grub truck mentioning they have rice platters every once in a while. The truck mostly sticks with tacos and grinders with Korean meats, and they were quiet about introducing this new menu item that isn’t available every day. Yesterday they were in the Financial District and I decided that some Korean meat over rice was just what I needed to perk up a dreary day.
