The Biggest Luke’s Lobster Yet Opens Today in Midtown East

We told you back in April that Luke’s Lobster would be opening a permanent storefront in Midtown East someday soon. Well, that day is today! I got to attend a sneak preview last night and I was amazed at the vastness of the space. If anybody’s been to any of their other locations around the city (or to the truck), you know it’s difficult to order a lobster roll without taking it “to go”. Here, there’s plenty of room to deal with crowds, sit down if you have the time, and most importantly, enjoy the best lobster roll in the city.

Designed with a nautical New England theme (of course) in blues and yellows, the new space on Third Avenue between 43rd and 44th is a place to chill – if you have the time.

In addition to seating close to 40 people inside, there is also an outdoor public space where customers can sit, eat, and drink beer and wine.  And Happy Hour specials will include $3 Maine beers, along with specially priced bites. You can also get a bucket of 6 beers for $18 at any time.

You can expect the usual lobster, shrimp, and crab rolls (also available as half portions), along with their grilled cheese, soups, blueberry bars, and a brand new crab dip which will be available after 4pm. More menu items will be added in the coming months.

This isn’t Luke’s first rodeo with the lunch crowds of Midtown, so while the line might be long, I can’t imagine it taking too long to get your food. And once you have it, you can run back to your office or chill here and have a few beers. You just have to find the entrance (the address is 685 Third Avenue, but the actual entrance is on 43rd or 44th Street between Third and Second).
