Lunch At Midtown’s First Birdbath Bakery Is Going To Cost You

When you walk into a place where baked goods and bespoke chocolate bars are displayed on a table, and there’s no menu board on display, it’s always a little suspicious, price-wise. Such is the case of the new Birdbath Bakery -a City Bakery offshoot- that opened a branch in the 2 Grand Central Tower atrium on 45th St. (btw. 3rd & Lex). I’ve eaten at the location in Tribeca a few times during my tenure as head Downtown Lunch’er and found the food mostly tasty, but with a high price tag that was hard to swallow.

Flatiron Lunch: Indikitch’s Serves a New Take on Indian Food

Every Friday we go south of the ML boundaries in search of a delicious lunch. Sometimes it’s Murray Hill south or the Flatiron District, sometimes Gramercy and everything in between- but we just like to call it Flatiron Lunch.

About a month ago, Indikitch opened along 23rd between 5th and 6th Avenues, a stretch with many vacant storefronts, so lots of opportunity, and a demand for more lunch options. I held off until now to let them settle into service, which was a struggle considering how much I love Indian food. (I know this isn’t the place, but I have to mention, for those of you closer to Grand Central, that I tried Shalom Bombay for dinner recently, and I do not recommend it!)

Pambazo & Paddy D’s Pizza Hit Cer Te Tomorrow

Cer Te (on 55th btw. 5+6th) and Pizza by Cer Te (on 56th btw. Park+Lex) have announced their March specials, both of which start tomorrow.  The $8.95 Pambazo is Cer Te’s sandwich of the month, featuring chorizo and potatoes, caramelized onions, and queso fresco, on a torta roll dipped in Guajillo sauce. And at Pizza by Certe you can get the Paddy D’s slice, featuring corned beef meatballs, charred cabbage, shredded potatoes, gruyere and a mustard seed bechamel on a caraway garlic crust.
