  • FREAK OF THE WEEK

  • That’s my kind of sandwich! 1 biter!

Why did he not answer WHY he would like to work at Bonjangles? Ridiculous.

    • I think that’s obvious, if you’ve ever eaten the chicken there. It’s easily the best fast-food fried chicken.

I would take issue with the banana comment, since a banana isn’t really ripe until the peel is significantly blacked up (not bruised, just blotched).

    Worst. Profile. Ever.

  • Forget cheap wings…I just wish for any decent wings at all.

I’m a fried chicken fanatic too. What’s your opinion on Hill Country Chicken?

    • Meh. Not all that good, really. Closest to Midtown that’s really good is Dirty Bird; I believe they deliver to Midtown if you order enough, judging from the group that sits next to me at work. (If you wanted recs outside of Midtown I’ve got my running list.)

      • Wow. Not all that good? Really? I actually think it’s the best fried chicken I’ve ever had- and fried chicken is my favorite food.

      • I’ll bet you’ve never been to Charles’ Pan-Fried up in Harlem then. And if you haven’t, you should!

      • Yikes. No, I don’t find it interesting at all. Boring, not very flavorful, not very crisp. Definitely not worth what they charge.

Charles’, Pies n Thighs, Peaches, Dirty Bird? All blow it away.

      • As Ritchie Aprile said to Tony regarding Janice, “to each his own.”

    • stevenp: I’ve absolutely been to Charles’. I’ve even had his chicken back in the day when he used to sell it out of a truck. It is fantastic. I’ve actually been all over the country, sampling the best of every region (including both locations of Stroud’s around Kansas City). I still think Hill Country is the best I’ve ever had. It’s got a touch of sweetness in the crust, a tang in the meat and just the right seasoning shake. If I didn’t strictly limit myself to one visit every other month, I would be 400 pounds (and broke. I agree that it is ridiculously expensive.)

  • Hey Thomas. Looks like the price of wings are increasing around the nation, but there are still some good deals out there. The best I’ve found is Vander Bar’s 5-7 happy hour wing special. Although they aren’t the most authentic Buffalo wings (they are breaded and the sauce is on the side), they are HUGE and cheap. Smith’s has 75-cent nearly authentic wings. Mostly though, they are $9-$12 a batch in Midtown. Slattery’s has some of my favorites if you’re looking for authentic Buffalo style.

  • I like Hill Country Chicken. It’s pricey, but it’s good. Especially their tenders.

    7 eleven wings! YUM!

  • Don’t worry Dave and Cheese, I have it on good authority (not myself) that the two negative commenters actually work with Thomas and are publicly razzing him. He has in fact been a very dedicated MLer ever since I introduced him to the site.

  • This guy has got it all backwards; under-ripe bananas are disgusting.

  • Attorney/editor, funny I once did that as a living, I thought I was the only one. Props for praising Bojangles.

Big fan of HC Fried chicken but it’s kind of a little pricy side to spend 15bucks on a couple of pieces of chicken and a shake but worth it every once a while.

@JenFen, thanks for the wings summary. This town needs a Cluck U Chicken franchise!
