55th Street Menchanko Tei Closed Again
Luncher Harry noticed that the 55th Street location of one of our favorite noodle soup spots, Menchanko Tei, is closed. This is not the first time they’ve been closed temporarily, so I called the 45th Street location to get the final word. The lady who answered the phone informed me that they are simply closed for renovations and plan to re-open in about 3 to 4 weeks. If any business is used to closing and re-opening, it’s Menchanko Tei so I guess we’ll see what happens.

One day too late. I went there yesterday for lunch with 3 coworkers and were disappointed to see their contruction sign. ended up going to Menkui tei next block. had jam bon(sp?) which was kinda bland.

1) Live roaches present in facility’s food and/or non-food areas….(It goes on from there)Go around the corner on 46th Street for far better Ramen and A rated places. It likely has a lot to do with the void where McDonalds and Wendys once stood so you may want to avoid this block on 45th which consists of Shitshaw Dumplings, Hop Won Express and Manchanko.
The adjacent 55th St Katsuhama is also closed for renovations, apparently. I called to place an order last Friday and got a recorded message.
