At Lunch Now: Comme Ci Comme Ca Barricaded In

This just in from Lunch’er Masto:

While I was at Comme Ci Comme Ca, a truck pulled up and a bunch of angry guys shoved barricades on the sidewalk
blocking the truck. They got into a bit of a verbal altercation with some of the customers. At the same time, Food Network was there filming something, and they apparently didn’t like the barricades either. I think they used it as an angle to talk to Chef Samir about trucks being hassled.

Could be a UN road closure thingy? Or Fashion Week holdover? Either way, it looks like they’re still out there so if you want to check it out (and maybe get on that Food Network/Cooking Channel food truck show) now would be the time.

  • “a truck pulled up and a bunch of angry guys shoved barricades on the sidewalk blocking the truck.”

just a random truck? not NYPD or anything else? then i call it a stunt for the cameras.

    • I wouldn’t put it past the FN to fake that sort of publicity stunt.

    • No, it was NYPD. They didn’t shut the truck down or anything (while I was there), it was just one of those WTF moments where people who couldn’t care less about barriers were in the middle of paying for their food while people who couldn’t care less about the food truck were sticking barricades in front of them.

  • Don’t think its FN’s doing. They are setting up equipment at Gotham Hall and there are barricades on 37th from 7th to 5th. Up Broadway, and on 6th.

    • So it was a mess when I was trying to get to the subway last night. They were barricading that whole area for Obama’s motorcade…

They were doing some cuts for the Cooking Channel show Eat Street.

Obama had a fundraiser in the building adjacent to where Comme Ci Comme Ca parks. I work across the street, the security was impressive last night… I’ve never seen so many cops, helicopters and trucks
