PROFILE: Midtown Lunch’er “Jess”
Every Tuesday we turn over the site to a different Midtown Lunch’er for his or her recommendations for the best lunch in Midtown. This week it’s Jess, a marketing associate who loves breakfast and wants to give you lunchtime discounts.
Name: Jess
Age: 28
Occupation: Marketing Associate
Where in Midtown do you Work?: DailyGobble, a smartphone-based dining rebate program that exposes users to discounts at partner restaurants.
Favorite Kind of Food: Breakfasts of all cuisines… Croque madames and monsieurs, crispy fried dough (you tiao) dipped in sweet soybean milk, or just eggs, potatoes, and bacon with a splash of Tabasco or smothered in New Mexican green chile… Make it brunch and we’re golden.
Least Favorite Kind of Food: Sea cucumber. Self-explanatory.
Favorite Place(s) to Eat Lunch in Midtown: Yagura (on 41st btw. Mad+5th) for chicken katsu curry on a rainy day, the Woorijip (on 32nd btw. B’way+5th) buffet for emotional eating, and Hing Won (on 48th btw. 5+6th) for a gustatory trip home. Nothing makes me happier than working in a mecca of stop-and-go Asian meals.
“Go-To” Lunch Place You and Your Coworkers Eat at Too Often? Aquamarine! (on 57th btw. 6+7th) We order in from them at least once a week and apply our DailyGobble savings to the office beer fund. Our boss is proud.
Place(s) you discovered thanks to Midtown Lunch? I may have to try Khodiar Lunch Services (on 6th btw. 37+38th) today.
If you could work anywhere (just because of the lunch) where would it be and why? Wiilliamsburg. To be in walking distance of BEST Pizza, Nhà Tôi, Diner, and Brooklyn Star would be heavenly.
Anything you’d like to ask the Midtown Lunch readers? What Midtown Lunch restaurant would you like to see on DailyGobble? Name it in the comments and we’ll try to set it up!
Anybody have a suggestion for Jessica? Put it in the comments. And, as always, if you want to be next week’s Profiled: Midtown Lunch’er (or know somebody you’d like to nominate) email editor@midtownlunch.com.

I don’t have a smartphone but I would like to lend my support in praise of emotional eating. I’m really missing the treats truck bc the peanut-butter/peanut-butter sandwich cookie is the baked goods equivalent of a hug.
