At Lunch Now: Jersey Based QBA Cuban Kitchen Truck Spotted in Midtown

Just got word from a tipster that the New Jersey based QBA Cuban Kitchen Truck (which was spotted Downtown a few weeks ago) is parked on 48th and 6th Ave. right now.  Not sure how long their 1st foray in the belly of the Midtown beast will last, but if you’re in the area it might be worth checking out.  Naturally, you can follow them on Twitter.  Early adopters, let us know how it is in the comments.

  • Huh. I thought the Frites & Meats truck was there. We all know they like to throw down… I wonder how this will pan out.

Frites & Meats was on the southwest corner by the News Corp. building; QBA was across Sixth Avenue about a quarter way up the block.

I tried the lechon pulled pork. For $7, you got a smallish serving of pulled pork over a bed of rice and beans with some sliced pickled onions plus your choice of a soda or water. I thought the meal might be too small, but I’m not hungry yet (still, a bit more pork would have been nice). The pork was pretty tasty (particularly the fattier ones) and the rice and beans were better than I expected. Overall, it’s a solid addition to midtown — not the best Cuban I’ve ever had, but plenty satisfying.

Apparently they spend their time near the high school in Montclair, N.J., regularly; I wonder if they’re planning to patrol Midtown now that the students are out for summer.

  • mmm this looks extremely exciting! I always love new food trucks!

I hope this food truck fight pans out and we are still able to have our delicious food trucks. I can see the issue on both sides but there should be some sort of middle ground.
