I Wouldn’t Have Thought It Possible…

but according to numerous lunchers another Crumbs is opening on Broadway btw. 37+38th.  “One of the workers inside said it should be open within couple of days.” Will the madness ever end?

  • Too many people are willing to pay 3.75 for their cupcakes. I know I’m guilty of it before but not frequently. Less than once a month? And usually for other people/ bdays, so not for myself. That’s not serious. If Crumbs would only lower their price…

compare the size and price to the ones from places like the cupcake truck… is it really that big a difference

(side note, never been to the cupcake truck but my sister enjoys buying from crumbs maybe once or twice a year)

  • Am I the only one that thinks that Crumbs cupcakes taste like sugar and nothing else?

For all the entreprenuers getting caught up in this cupcake fad, I have two words: Krispy Kreme

  • I feel bad for Krispy Kreme though – they were a perfect alternative to Dunkin Donuts in NC – heck, DD really had no presence in NC. Massive expansion and massive fail, and it winds up affecting even their humble roots.

Crumbs is just a mediocre bakery chain. Why can’t these “entrepreneurs” figure out how to open a non-franchise bakery, like an Amy’s Bread?

  • If you think about it, when has national expansion/franchising ever been about excellent food? It’s about creating an inexpensive product, that is easily replicated, and a high profit margin. Cupcakes fit that perfectly…

Nobody brings a dozen doughnuts to a birthday party, dinner party, or office party. (Although, now that I think about it, I kind of wish more people did…)

  • The Au Bon Pain near me used to carry Krispy Kreme. I don’t think I see them there anymore?
