Schnitzel Truck on Fire… Literally
This just in from Lunch’er “Rich”: “The Schnitzel Truck is on fire. No idea what happened, but there’s smoke pouring out the back and the guy is giving people their money back, and on the phone with someone, maybe the Fire Dept?” And now Lunch’er “Chris” has checked in to say fire trucks have arrived, and lunch has been cancelled for the day. Hopefully everybody is ok…
UDPATE from @Schnitzeltruck: “Had little mishap.. Everyone on the truck is fine. Sorry to customers that had to leave. We’ll be back on road stronger than ever very soon!”

That is scary…grease fires are NO joke! Almost burned my place down 2 months ago when I deep fried wings and fries in a flattop nonstick pan! When I put in some snow covered fries, the oil spilled over and totally caught fire–I’m talking 3 feet flames, in a pan I was holding in my hand! In my studio apartment–next to my shades! I freaked the F**K out!!!! I sincerely hope that not much damage is done to shnitzel (not only because I haven’t tried it yet)!I got lucky—I tossed the burning oil down the drain!!!! BAD IDEA I know, but I figured a fucked up drain was better than a burned down apartment….Luckily no damage was done to the drain—or the apartment–and the stove works again, after I rested it for a week!

The fire is out, and the fire trucks have gone. Just walked past it on my way to Cravings and back.

That cell phone picture makes it appear as if the truck is actually engulfed in flames- and the firefighters are just standing around. I would guess that neither thing happened quite that way.

Maybe the firefighters like their schnitzel well done LOL? I was on line, I saw some smoke coming from the vent on top of the truck and from the ordering window. You could definately smell something burning though.

@pigiron – I took that pic, it’s just glare from my crappy cel phone camera, not fire… there wasn’t even any smoke by the time the fire dept got there.
