Bar American (sic)? No offense to Bobby Flay (I happen to think Bar Americain is a really good restaurant), but “best Midtown lunch restaurant”? Katie… sweetie pie… I have a whole website full of places you and Billy should check out before declaring any lunch in Midtown as “the best”.

She married Billy Joel (who’s over twice her age) when she was still in college I believe. She somehow got picked to be the host of Top Chef 1 even though she has zero culinary background. Thankfully the producers at Bravo realized she had the IQ of 4 year old with progeria, and swapped her out for Padma.

Not really a defense of this chick, but I will add that she did win the 2007 Burger Bash at SOBE. So at least that’s something to indicate she knows something about quality food.

I’ve been to Bar Americain a couple of times and don’t even find it on the upper echelon of Midtown dinner restaurants. Would go for Midtown lunch sandwich though.
