6th Ave. is Gearing Up for a Bulgogi Cart War

DSC01551

Got this email about the new “Happy Well Being House” cart (on 50th btw. 6+7th):

“Just wanted to let you know that the new cart on 50th & 6th is now serving bulgogi. You get TONS of bulgogi with rice and salad for $6!!! But I dunno, maybe I just got a lot b/c I’m Korean… and good looking.”

With the O.G. Bulgogi Cart one block away (on 49th btw. 6+7th) things could start to get interesting. I know when a new halal stand tries to set up near a halal stand that has been in a spot for a long time, things can get really ugly, really quickly. I wonder if Korean carts follow the same code of honor…

  • If anyone knows a thing or two about “gross misrepresentation”, it’s DocChuck and his two novelty-store PhD certificates

  • Mine didn’t look particularly ‘Korean.’ Not that I’d know what that even was. But it was just some grilled chicken over home fries with some ‘salad’ that actually looked and tasted like tasty cole slaw. Nothing exotic about it, except it’s a lot of good, simple food cheap.

  • How late does this place stay open? I want to try to swing by and try this for dinner tonight.

  • Just tried this place. I got the bulgogi box with rice and salad. The bulgogi is actually very good. The only problem that I see is that it is served with yellow rice. Everyone knows that bulgogi must be served over sticky white rice!! The salad is quite weak….just cabbage. Other than that, I like this place. Good portions, good price!

  • delicious bulgogi with home fries. i asked them if they had any kimchi and they said maybe later. so i said i’d be back another time. want to try the fish tomorrow. it being lent and all.

  • Just got back, and as of 2:10 pm, they are out of the Beef Bugolgi. So I went to 53rd and 6th.

  • I don’t think the Happy Well Being Cart is supposed to be strictly a Korean cart. I think the bulgogie, which they state as “Korean” is the only aspect of the cart that is Korean. Otherwise, it’s just a cart that serves out huge portions of food! The bulgogi is quite delicious, I have to say.

  • It’s not at the usual location today. Scared off by a little rain?

  • Funny, I went looking for it today as well.

  • Two of us walked over in the rain today. No cart. That sucks.

Co-workers went last week on Friday and they were out of rice and home fries. But they liked the chicken so much (and the price) they wanted it again today. No dice.

  • Last friday and today we took off because my mom got a knee surgery on last friday… I did not know about this site and lots of comments -_-;;; Anyway we are back again ..Please enjoy our food and advise any thing about our store~~ THANKS!!
