Midtown Lunching During Lent

It’s the second Friday of Lent, so I’m sure a lot of you will be looking for some seafood options a little better than the fish filet from McDonalds… although at 2 for $3, it’s almost worth it. (Through April 12th according to Page 13 of today’s AMNY). Most of the recommendations from 2 years ago are still around, but there are a few new ones to be strongly considered… most notably, the new catfish sandwich from Certe (on 55th btw. 5+6th), and the fried catfish sandwich from out of bounds Baoguette (Lexington btw. 25+26th).  Anybody else have any Lent recommendations?  Put them in the comments…

  • any of the sandwich options at oyster bar take out window at grand central are pretty solid…

  • I usually get a vegetarian torta at the truck by Bloomingdale’s or stuff at Katagiri.

  • crabcakes, fried shrimp, are all under $10 at BBQ’s. I’ll be having a steak sandwich from Margon, as I am a backslider..

  • Tilapia special at Kwik Meal is the best fish I’ve eaten in midtown.

  • Just had the shrimp pad thai at Pongsri, this just might be my Lent Friday goto lunch

  • I just had Roast beef and yorkshire puddings….and had a catholic whipped for missing his rent of 3 p.

  • Having Tilapia over rice from Kwik Gourmet. Thanks for the tip. I can always count on ML.

  • Ok I don’t know about you guys, but that Wendy’s commercial for the new fish sandwich that’s panko breaded…? Looks pretty good. Anyone try it yet? (But yea, 2/$3 can’t really be beat…)

  • It’s all a vegan plot… they’re in league with the vatican & the illumnati

Can’t you just bribe a saint or something and skip it?

  • BTW, Zach, thank you SO much for posting this – it reminded me that I am still eating fish and the bahn mi cart has fish sandwiches! *eating eel baguette right now :)

  • Eel,Yvo?

    I forgive you.

  • is any manhattan mcd’s actually honoring 2-for-$3? i’ve only seen 2-for-$4.

  • add a 36c tax to that

  • @ 8.375%?

  • Just nabbed 2 for $3, I forgot how wickedly good those things were, death on a bun but they sure are tasty.
