Every Tuesday I turn over the site to a different Midtown Lunch’er for his or her recommendations for the best lunch in Midtown. This week, it’s Lou a audio guy who likes steak. But can we help him find good BBQ? Yes we can!

Favorite Kind of Food: Cowboy bone in Ribeye Steak
Least Favorite Kind of Food: Seafood
Favorite Place(s) to Eat Lunch in Midtown: The katsu curry with sausages from Go Go Curry (on 38th btw. 7+8th), all the baked goods from Cafe Zaiya (on 41st btw. Mad+5th), The bacon/pepperoni slice from Little Italy Pizza (on 4rd btw. Mad+5th), the kati rolls from the Biryani Cart (on 46th & 6th), the butterscotch pecan blondie from the Treats Truck.
“Go-To” Lunch Place You and Your Coworkers Eat at Too Often? Park Italian on 45th and 6th. We go there mainly when we’re in a rush or are feeling lazy since it is right downstairs. That said, the food is low priced, heros are good sized, and they have good assortment of hot Italian food everyday, like chicken parm, sausage and peppers, stuffed shells and so on.
Place(s) you discovered thanks to Midtown Lunch? GO GO CURRY! I never knew Japanese curry existed till Midtown lunch told me about Go Go Curry! I’m now a curry fanatic!! Wow it’s soooooo goooood!
If you could work anywhere (just because of the lunch) where would it be and why? I’ll stick to picking a dream location here in NYC. Would love to be anywhere south of 14th street, where there’s so many strange and small places waiting to be uncovered. Midtown is just so…….Midtown, with Cafe Europa everywhere. Would like to get away from cookie cutter style lunch spots and have better and closer dinner options too.
Is there anything you’d like to ask the Midtown Lunch readers? Great BBQ is still lacking in NYC. What’s your favorite place?
At the risk of sounding like a broken record, I’m going to go with Daisy May’s BBQ Lou… their restaurant location on 46th & 11th serves the best ribs in NYC, and their cart on 51st btw. 6+7th has a great brisket sandwich, and Texas style chili (plus an expensive, but delicious mason jar of sweet tea.)

I don’t have a BBQ recommendation for “Richard”, but I can tell Lou that I’ve had very good Q at Dinosaur, and in Midtown, Virgil’s BBQ has great appetizers (but not so great ribs).

Lou is grabbing that tree like his Derek Jeter brand autographed undies are around his ankles and he’s getting rear-ended by a certain well-paid metrosexual third baseman.
And he looks like he’s enjoying it

zomfg, a Yankee fanboy, but at least he has good taste in food (‘tho not in sports teams). I would also suggest a trek up to Dinosaur bbq, and perhaps a stop in at RUB on 23rd for the burnt ends. (Get there early before they run out.)

Pearson’s BBQ in Legends bar in Jackson Heights. Sauces are a little runny for my taste, but the ribs and pulled pork kick a$$.

The chicken wings alone at Dinosaur BBQ make it worth the hike uptown. I am also a big fan of their mac and cheese since it has a crunchy spicy top. The peanut butter pie is pretty good as well.

I prefer fette sau to both hill country and dinosaur (except for dinosaur’s chicken wings). hill country has more sides than fette sau but I think the meat at fette sau is better.

@MM & The Booth–Couldn’t agree more—Dinosaur BBQ has the best wings EVER—and I’m not just talking NYC! For NYC, Rub is a close 2nd for delicious wings, but they are not up to Dinosaur quality and taste. In fact, when I make my own wings in my deep fryer, I exclusively use Dinosaur BBQ sauce or Anchor Bar Sauce—but of course I cant get the delicious smokey flavor Dinosaur renders to their little birds….

Rack & Soul at 109 & Broadway is very good BBQ and even better Fried Chicken
But the best BBQ comes to town every June for the BBQ festival.

@goat: sorry, lifelong Red Sox fan here, and *I* am the one lol’ing at the Yankees’ Biggest Choke in Major League Baseball History back in ’04, and the Yankees’ complete failure to win a world series title this century, much less make even play in October this year. All this despite the Yankees outspending every other team in mlb for many years, and making a show of throwing cash around still.
No, it’s you I feel sorry for. Those ’26 rings’ shirts are getting pretty tattered.

Lou – I also endorse all the good words said about Dinosaur BBQ. I live within walking distance of the joint and can confirm that the wings are the absolute best ever and the place is always packed (Mon, Tues evening: 1hr+ wait if you get there after 7pm).

@Stevenp—3 world series in the last 100 yrs versus our 26…yes, us Yankee fans should hang our heads very low. I bet you’re one of those fair weather guys too—“lifelong fan since 04!” PLease! Let’s see what happens this year pal…that’s all I will say about the greatness that is the Yankees!

@Goat-a couple of clarifications:
1) The Sox have won 7 series in total. Looking at the 21st century, it’s Red Sox 2, Yankees 0.
2) You’re mistaken about ‘fair weather.’ I was glued to the tube for the ’67 series (Yaz, Petrocelli, Tony Conig), the ’75 series (still Yaz, Lynn & Rice, Fisk), the ’86 series (OK, Buckner), and many games in-between and since. Skipped high school in the mid-70’s for opening day at Fenway each year. My all-time favorite player is Dwight Evans, who stopped playing long before 2004.
