Ask Midtown Lunch: Garlic Fries
When I lived in L.A. I used to love getting the Gordon Biersch garlic fries at Dodger games, so I’m kind of interested in the answer to this questions was well. From Lunch’er Charlie: “Do you have any idea as to where one can get San Francisco style garlic fries, with freshly diced garlic and freshly grated Parmesan, in NYC?” Yes please. Anybody?

Seabright Brewery in Santa Cruz, Ca had the best garlic fries. You could even get them with pesto…. so damn good.
What the hell is up with NYC? I can’t get chili fries or garlic fries around here. Every burger joint and restaurant had them in Cali.

truffle fries at capital grille. lots of garlic, not so much truffle.
still great.

Unhelpful =P Best garlic fries I ever had was in SF too. http://feistyfoodie.blogspot.com/2007/09/crab-house-at-pier-39-san-francisco.html Ok, not helpful either.
BUT. Hot garlic potato chips at Union Square Cafe are f*cking good and in NYC. http://feistyfoodie.blogspot.com/2008/08/union-square-cafe.html $7 for that serving, just order them at the bar, skip the other stuff :)

BLT Market has Parmesan Garlic Fries if that helps

Co-worker says Thalia has it too

Make them at home

Damn….garlic fries sound AMAZING!!
NYC definitely needs some of these babies. -
Cafe Gleicik (in Brighton Beach) has them when you order the kebabs
-
I would make them at home when I lived near a McDonalds.
Just get everything chopped and ready to go, then go buy the fries at McDonalds (sorry, but when fresh those are the best fries), rush home and toss it all in a big paper bag, shake to coat.

The Frying Pan on pier 64 (the restaurant/bar on an old docked boat) has awesome fries that they season with old bay and then toss with fresh roasted garlic cloves. No parmesan but still damn good.

I just got back from San Fran, and visited the Gordon Biersch there. The garlic fries are good, and the beer is even better. NYC could definitely use a Gordon Biersch! and an In-N-Out!

If Jami is talking about the Frying Pan that used to sit next to Chelsea Piers, that place is no more, sadly. I found out the hard way, by dragging several out-of-town friends all the way out there.

southeastmidtowner – The Frying Pan re-opened in July

fries at spotted pig are either tossed with or fried with slivers of garlic and rosemary. divine.
-
Triple Crown Irish Pub on 7th and 28th has garlic fries similar to Gordon Biersch.
-
Jami, old bay fries are killer!!
-
Shorty’s sells “Italian fries” with grated romano and Italian seasoning…not quite the same, but still reasonably tasty.

The Philly Cheese Steak Place west of Times Square, used to be a Tony Luke’s, sells Italian Fries that sound EXACTLY like what you describe. I had them 2-3 years ago. Tasted wonderful…then decided they weren’t worth the heart attack to eat ’em again!
