Midtown Lunch

Every Friday our man UltraClay goes south of the ML boundaries in search of a delicious lunch. Sometimes it’s Murray Hill south or the Flatiron District, sometimes Gramercy and everything in between- but we just like to call it Flatiron Lunch.

With so many new and notable places to eat in Flatiron, it’s easy to forget the little places that we pass by every day without thinking about it. One of them for me has been Tablespoon, a little cafe attached to a catering shop on 20th Street. It’s across from the color lab where I get my film developed, so I’ve noticed it before but never went in. I finally decided to investigate.

Last month’s joy over Omar’s triumphant return to the Little Morocco cart (NE corner of 39th+7th) quickly turned into anticipation for the unveiling of some new menu items. This isn’t exactly new, but it’s something I’ve been hoping for ever since kofta disappeared from the menu last year.

Do you wonder what the ML contributors do when they’re not eating lunch in Midtown? (They’re actually pretty easy to stalk!)

Ultraclay went to a wedding in the Phillipines where he was treated to roast pig! Brownie gets excited that Feburary is pancake and hot chocolate month, while Blondie reminds everyone about the Meatball Slapdown tomorrow night at the Brooklyn Kitchen. Chris H. got to hang out with Kelly Choi at Bann, and our new man Donny had a tasty looking brunch at Peels.

In the rest of the Midtown Lunch universe… Andrea finds a pretty stellar burger at the Pearl St. Diner Downtown, Jamie found two amazing Vietnamese dishes at Pho Xe Lua Viet Thai in Philly, and I ate under $10 sashimi in seedy Downtown L.A. and lived to tell the tale! (It was actually kind of awesome.)
