Last week it became official that the Baoguette on Maiden Lane would be moving to a new location around the corner at 75 Nassau St. (btw. John & Fulton). Yesterday we got word from Michael Bao himself that the new shop will open on Monday meaning the old one will be closing. The Nassau St. location still had paper over the windows when I walked by so it’s unclear if this space will be any better (or have real seats maybe?) than the old one.

I’ve always wondered how the lamb/chicken over rice combo ($6) was at the Gyro House cart parked at Ann St. & Park Row. You can’t help but smell it every time you head to J&R Electronics, which it is parked directly in front of. I’d have to say after eating it that there were two things going on in their combo over rice that you’ll probably either love or hate.

Good news for those of you anxiously awaiting the opening of Kortako, the Korean taco shop on Nassau (btw. John & Fulton) from the BonChon on John people. Lunch’er Kino passed along a tidbit that the place is expected to be open by the end of October (confirmed by their Web site) and if you eat at the FiDi BonChon they’ll give you a 50% off coupon for your first visit to Kortako. When I walked by significant progress had been made on the inside so fingers crossed that they can actually open on schedule. On a side note, with this, Nicky’s Vietnamese Sandwiches and the new location of Baoguette, Nassau St. is becoming quite the cheap Asian eats corridor.

I’ve long been meaning to check out Sunrise Mart on Broome St. (btw. Wooster & W. Broadway) but I knew it would require a train ride and the focus of a ninja to avoid leaving this place with enough food for five lunchers. The other day I had some extra time on my hands and decided it was time to see what kind of lunch I could get for $10 or less.

I was walking past Koodo Sushi on Nassau St. (nr. Liberty) when I spotted the very festive handmade poster in the window. Basically you can get a very simple ramen soup for $6.95 but you’re going to pay $3 more if you want pork or any other addition. I’m going to be all over this when the weather turns nasty.
