Lunch’er Seaweed passed along the sad news that The Country Kebab on Fulton St. (at Gold), where I’d only recently discovered some vegetarian delights, is closing as of today due to a rent increase. When I stopped by on Thursday, their last day of business, there was indeed a lengthy letter taped to each window and the door explaining in great detail why they were closing. From the look of it, they’re just as angry about a likely rent hike and loss of lease as I’m sure many of you will be, but you’ll still be able to order for delivery.

There’s isn’t much on offer for lunch in the seedy stretch of Canal St. near the Holland Tunnel other than a Roll & Go selling pizza and hot dogs, and West Side Coffee Shop with its Latin fare in heaping portions. As I was walking by Tribeca Bagels between Broadway & Wooster the other day I noticed a sign offering beans and rice with an array of proteins, next to one advertising $1.99 cheese pizza slices. A step inside this bodega/bagel shop/deli mashup showed that that do indeed offer beans and rice, and a by-the-pound buffet with some weird variety.

Cinnamon Snail Plans To Park In The FiDi Today [Updated]: You may have seen that vegan lunch truck Cinnamon Snail has started parking in NYC during the week, and they're in the Financial District today weren't able to find parking in the FiDi! The truck's tried out the Flatiron, Midtown and the W. Village already, and although they said Thursday will be their regular day in the FiDi, today's parking woes do not bode well. They'll be in or near Soho on Tuesdays (see the schedule here), however, and I'm sure a lot of you will be excited for not only the meatless lunches, but also the vegan baked goods.

A while back, while investigating the mysterious My Belly’s Playlist delivery service, I discovered that not only did Yorganic exist, but it sells something called Bliss Bowls which are essentially rice bowls with Korean ingredients. The kicker is that everything in this place is organic, hormone-free, natural etc. With Cafe Hanover just around the corner also selling Korean food, I was curious how these yuppie rice bowls stacked up.
